@@DozierGraphic Yep like I said before I have a Pentax k70 with the 18 the 135 kit lens and the kit telephoto 70 to 300 and massive 150 to 500 and my new latest one technically two 100 mm to 300 mm macro lens and a 90 mm 1:1 fully automatic focus with limiter

Thank you for the comment. I think the 'knack' is just not being afraid to take the photos (and a lot of camoflauging your movements - looking one way but taking a photo in the opposite direction, etc so they don't really know if you're shooting them or not). My goal is to always just not appear to be 'spying.'

Yes Steve, I really like the K-70. I don't see a need to ever not use it. It can be a bit noisy in the higher ISO range (like most cameras) but Topaz AI Noise software solves that without any degradation to the image - so all good!

I've been doing research on different cameras and I believe you've made up my mind on the k70. I'm doing a trip to the arctic circle on my motorcycle and I'll need a tough weather resistant camera. Thank you so much for your effort and interesting videos.

No problem Gary! If you're taking a dslr, I can't think of a better choice. The only concerns you have with cold is going to be keeping the batteries charged, but the camera itself will definitely stand up to the elements! Sounds like a fun trip - enjoy!

Pentax is necessary..When you want NO GIMMICKS and to compose in camera..PENTAx..Got my Pentax k1 mk2,and it's just wonderful,and yes,i shoot outside in NYC streets..

funny I've watched this now and really like the pics straight of out camera. I wanted to take this out for street again. Have you had any comments do to the sound of that shutter? Thinking about getting another k70 for street almost picked up a d7500 but that pentax has better colors.

That shutter is definitely not silent lol but you just have to have the courage to do it! If the shutter noise makes it difficult for you (and it idd a few times with me) then don't hesitate to use a zoom until you do get the confidence to get closer. There is no such thing as 'cheating' with street photography, however, I do feel like the 'butt shots' are a cop-out (not about the anatomy, just the fact you shot someone walking away). My goal is to get a facial expression, but again, starting out sometimes we need to crawl comfortably first, then get those steps in! Hope that helps Steve!

I must say im amazed at the pictures you managed to get...maybe its just me or the 150-450 (i'm doing mostly wildlife) but photographing something going towards me on k70 is a nono, especially the cyclist. Also I find the results of 18-135 quite disappointing most of the time. I have some photos I like from it and I've heard that when stopped down to like f7-11 it gets better but I still am dreading every time I use it for what the photo will end up looking (mostly in terms of sharpness, I don't have complaints with AF)

150 doesn't leave any room for depth of field focusing when something is coming at you. I haven't watched this video in a long while, but I'm guessing anything that was coming towards me was in the 18-30mm range, while zooming in on more stationary subjects. Plus I was likely using a small aperture like f/11-16 adding that depth of field (room for error). Hope that helps. and thanks for the comment!

I do most of m street photography with my old Pentax *istDL from 2005. My 6 megapixel wonder with my Tamron 28-200 zoom lens

On what mode you make pictures like that ? Manual ? What settings ? On my pentax all pictures in move are disaster I use 18-55

I haven't watched the video in a long time, not sure but I'm positive I give the settings details in the beginning of the video. You'll need to make sure you have a high shutter speed over 1/400 sec. Using Auto mode won't work, need to go manual mode. Thanks.

Maybe it's just me... but for the $800ish price tag the photos just seem meh. Maybe it is just due to youtube and the resolution limiting it at 1080 or something?

Understandably much lower quality than on social media. These are exported at 72 mb and only at about 2100 x 1400 pixels. The idea isn't to present a perfect image quality (especially with street photography) but more what you can do with a zoom lens, any zoom lens. But these are very sharp images that I'm editing, shame by the time they reach the video stage they degrade substantially. Again, if you want perfection, spend a few grand for a full frame, but this camera used on Ebay is only about $350-$400, which is what I paid for mine lens and camera combined. Even so, at new price, I'd take this over a lot of other cameras between $1000-$1200 on the market today. Thanks for the input! Always appreciated!

@@DozierGraphic Hm, that makes sense. I've just also seen a lot of "meh" looking samples online and it just boils down to that... "If I spend $500-850 and these photos are the best I could get... Nice vid and photos. Most people prefer primes for street, but other than the smaller set up a zoom always helps for portraits or closer shots... (See you mention it as well in the end of the video) The K70 is very good as is the lens you used. How about a wrist strap for some extra protection? Seeing the cam in your hands this way gives me anxiety....😁
