Same. Mine also included the glitch that in Multiplayer Cubes don't get fizzled when you crouch and look down

As a former hammer map maker I can say that using hammer it's like trying to eat a delicious slice of pizza... While you can only see badly made render of the room and and your hands with legs tightly tied. This pretty much sums up how it feels to make hammer maps.

That's why I generally prototype maps in the puzzlemaker and then remake them in hammer. Gives you the ease of iteration of the puzzlemaker while giving you the visual flexibility of Hammer.

You can also improve that chamber that you made using Enhanced Old Aperture which adds decorations to old aperture for beemod. There are also UCPs that allow for Magnetic buttons and 4 Portals and much more.

This mod made me so happy when I found it cuz the 2 issues I had with the in game editor is that 1: It didn't have mid chamber doors. and 2: I could not choose the style of my chamber and I was limited to the clean style.

As someone who uses BEE too much here are a few things new users should know 1: Beemod will try as hard as possible to make your computer explode. It will crash, it will glitch, it will unload half your textures for no reason. But you can always fix this with a quick Portal 2 File Validation. 2: Know what your doing before you start. Mess around with some elements and then find one you like and make a puzzle based around that. I’ve tried multi-use pallets before. They don’t work. 3: Don’t overdo it, keep chambers simple but smart. Make them feel like tests, not hodgepodges. 4: Clutter can make or break a chamber. The more compact a chamber is, the nicer it looks. But if you need space by all means make it larger. 5: Don’t make puzzles about finding the goal, make them about getting to the goal. You should be able to know where you need to get to shortly after entering a chamber, the puzzle is figuring out how to get to the goal or open the goal 6: If you are using an element that isn’t in default Portal 2, try to “explain” how to use it or what it does. Maybe provide a “Preview room” where you can test it in a safe area.

The only problem with the the workshop is that like always when there is much freedom involved there is alot and i mean ALOT of junk it is hard to find good maps especially by newer map makers but a word (or a few sentences) for those who have problems creating chambers 1. search for people well known in the portal 2 community 2. Play their own maps or their favorite maps 3. Watch the tutorials by demon arisen of how to make great testchambers 4. You don't have to upload daily, take your time

If it weren't for BEEMOD, I wouldn't have made my most popular test, which has over 1k updoots on the P2 steam workshop. The only gripe I have about BEEMOD is how many annoying bugs there are sometimes, but that's forgivable for a modding platform made by the community.

I wish you could do the same for half life, IE make custom terrain and add specific enemies in specific places, like a huge firefight with resistance, combine and a few striders/hunters or create another ravenholm and saw through zombies with father grigori

There's nothing stopping you from doing this in Hammer. People have been modding this series since the 90s, and that's why we even have Counter Strike and Team Fortress in the first place. It's just that Portal is much more suited to building levels from a small number of elements with a voxel system

As much as I love it...... the base test chamber creator is quite lacking....... There are so many unique entities and features that aren't present in the test chamber creator, but are in the full game.

Bee2 user here make sure you teach any new game mechanics to players example in RTT I introduced HEPs and having them fizzle cubes I hinted to it via a window or the aperture science glass protected hinting apparatus A.S.G.P.H.A for short
