What's crazy to me is that these jobs don't want to fix this, and its a norm in the US. You show up to a 9 hour job, work 3, sit for 6 doing nothing. That drove me MAD as an employee. I don't know how people can do it. I remember coworkers telling me I should watch netflix/youtube, etc, to pass the time. Like I wanted to sit at a job, in work clothes, in an uncomfortable chair, sleepy, trying to enjoy myself. As an employer now, I've thoroughly vowed to never do that to my employees. If you can work remote, then lets do it. None of us need to be here at 8AM. We don't need useless team meetings that could be covered in an email/memo. If you can do the job in 3 hours, cool, do it in 3, ill still pay you for the 9, just be on call for those 9 in-case I do need you. Its not hard but people love to overcomplicate things.

It takes 3-4 months from applying to onboarding to multiple interviews to actual job and paycheck these days. Most decent jobs take about 3-4 months or more to actually get there. Possibly anywhere from 3-6 months to actually get a job these days and more for senior level and higher paying positions. There are still jobs out there but it may not be the job, the pay, the benefits that you want. If you need 6 figures, you need the skills to get that and or connections also. Considering the present situation, diversifying by shifting investments from real estate to financial markets or gold is recommended, despite potential future home price drops. Given prevailing mortgage rates and economic uncertainty, this move is prudent, particularly due to stricter mortgage regulations. Seeking advice from a knowledgeable independent financial advisor is advisable for those seeking guidance.

Not to mention the benefits such as pension and death benefits left for my mom and want to same for me. Now we are actually in a position to retire a couple years earlier than expected and plan to leave by the beginning of next year. We both like our current positions but the burnout lingers. @monkemonkerson56206 ай бұрын
Companies outsourcing overseas for cheap labor is becoming the norm thanks to fully remote options. Americans are too expensive to pay and companies would rather send their plants down to Mexico or China just to save a few bucks. Also, $75k in today's money is bottom barrel. Companies nowadays want you to wear a dozen hats, have a bunch of certificates and degrees and then MAYBE they'll consider hiring you.

I think I know what it is. We are in a serious recession and all the work has dried up but companies are still holding out against hope and keeping employees on because they think that the work will come back soon. I have anecdotally heard of truckers just not getting any work compared to last year. Employees can sense this and know it's only a matter of time but they are not going to leave their jobs without redundancy, even if they can get another job offer which is unlikely. So we are in a period of inertia waiting for it all to hit the fan. Employers are holding out hope and don't want to risk the cost of layoffs/rehiring if they get more work even though they are bleeding cash. Employees are clinging on for as long as they can with no life rafts left for them to jump to.

People have stopped looking for a higher income and are instead scaling down their lives in order just to continue to live. I know 2 guys who are brothers who both got out of their own living situations and moved into a small 2 bedroom condo together. Sold their audi and b.m.w. for used Toyota's. They are paying off their debt as quickly as they can and now live on budgets in anticipation of the cost of everything to skyrocket. I know a girl in her late 30's who sold her house because she expects a housing crash, she used the equity to pay off her college debt. She moved back in with her parent. My co worker moved in with her aunt and uncle because she can't afford to live anymore. I picked up a second job and have hunkered down for bad times myself. Why quit a job that's $2.00 higher or $5.00 higher when you'll be expected to do more work. AS you go up in the ranks you will be expected to do everyone else's job. People are also being a lot smarter when they apply by looking on the internet for complaints and talking to people who work at the company to find out the ins and outs of the company itself. So isn't it just that the FED has jacked up interest rates? Making life more unaffordable in general for consumers and making it more difficult to buy homes? So as the economy sucks more for consumers and it's more costly to move and to buy a home, the tendency is just to stay in the home that you're currently in and also to batten down the hatches and stay in the job but you're currently in. People aren't leaving their homes and they're not leaving their jobs because the economy sucks for most people in the United States.
