Have Companies & The US Government Pay You!
app.silomarkets.com/launch
Since its introduction, Bing has been a meme. People have always seen Bing as Microsoft's crappy attempt to take on Google. And though Bing was a massive loss leader in the early days, over the years, it has evolved to be much more than just that. You see, Bing has been able to create a pretty strong niche user base thanks to their rewards strategy. This has only been assisted by people’s growingly negative opinion of Google and growingly neutral opinion about Microsoft. This is no coincidence either. Microsoft has become a lot more passive over the years and has started to embrace its competition instead trying to compete against everything. This has allowed them to make a chromium-powered Edge that’s better than Chrome. And it appears that Microsoft is carrying over this same approach to Bing as well. Instead of trying to force Cortana down people’s throats, Microsoft has opted to incorporate ChatGPT into Bing which seems to have generated a pretty positive response from the public. This video explains the underdog story of Bing and why Bing is not a failure

I've used Microsoft Bing as my exclusive search engine from around 2011 or 2012, sometime around 2018 or 2019 I switched to Ecosia which is powered to Microsoft. Google hardly shows better results and with Bing you get Microsoft Rewards and with Ecosia you're helping endangered ecosystems around the world.

Definitely true - as an IT expert I avoided Microsoft products my entire life and even 20 years in my professional life. They tried to get users and lock them down in their all-or-nothing mentality. Overtime Bing I'm sure will take the lead that Google currently holds, situations such as this aren't unheard of; once less viable options have changed themselves to become fair better than their competitors. As an AI enthusiast I don't think so. Most of Open AI stuff like ChatGPT is built on top of Google's technology. The problem with Google is that they are not making any public releases as they are big and have reputation to save. Google cannot produce misinformation like ChatGPT. But I am sure when they come out with the products, they will make a huge impact. When it comes to AI, Google is top tier atleast according to me.

But now the current situation is more dangerous than loosing reputation. So, they are hurrying. To be frank, you supported my point actually. No one cares if ChatGPT and Bing provides misinformation which they are doing every single day with millions of answers. But if Google did it, it's a big thing. Microsoft is so ready to release the unfinished product because they don't have to worry about anything. Whereas Google cannot do that. I still think Google is way ahead of the competition when it comes to AI.

This video is interesting and well crafted, with one thing that bugged me enough to point out-if you could mix up your wording more so that you’re not calling things “lucrative” every two seconds, it would be a bit easier to listen to. Right now it feels like Microsoft is paying you to say the word “lucrative,” with the word “profitable” coming in close behind it. Just gets repetitive and tiresome. But other than that one nitpicky thing, this is a great video and definitely better than anything I could put together. Will be interesting to see whether Microsoft takes over Google in this space in the next decade.

Seems like notable rehashing with the recent Bing video. Still lots of new info & theories, but definitely a sizable overlap. Probably better to space out the two more?

Nice to hear that. But you know, once web developers have mastered the bing algorithm, they will start putting nonsense and popular tags just to be at the top of the search.

Agree. People laugh at the Microsoft service because anything that involves money is unethical, the same reason we must use privacy-preserving services and fight for free-as-in-freedom search engines and similar services.

I really dislike what Google is doing in its search algorithm. I switched to Bing as my primary search engine three years ago. More often than not Bing gets the results I need and shows more results that are relevant to the subject I'm looking for than Google. Google has a tendency to show results that are more related to commercialization, i.e. results that as to do with marketing and selling items that are (or might be) related to the subject being searched. In short, as a search engine Bing is what Google used to be: a search engine, whereas Google is now more like an advertisement site.

Revenue/user is only half the story, what about profit/user? Growing through bribes hits the bottom line, which is what ultimately matters. That said, Bing does look to be making interesting moves. Nice work covering its business and demographics.
