I've met plenty of people who've never interacted with a pitbull so I don't think this video is too farfetched. My parents included until I started fostering and one of my fosters was a pit. I unintentionally desensitized my parents by raving on and on about all the cute pits I've met while volunteering so by the time they actually met one in person they were cool with it. But before that they would have been pretty nervous even though we've had other types of dogs as pets for years. Edit: I just realized too - I don't think I ever met a pitbull till my mid twenties even though I don't remember being scared of them and I love animals. I fell in love with pitbulls specifically while in college through bully breed advocates and animal rescues on social media which lead me to volunteering with rescues and purposely seeking out pitties.

friends have a pet Rottie on their farm. it is one of the friendliest dogs I've ever met and he too has no sense of his own size. one night they were woken by a man screaming for help. went down to their living room to find the burglar pinned under their dog as it licked his face. poor guy thought he was going to get eaten alive

I had a lab mastiff mix. When he wanted to show you something he would walk up to you close his mouth around your wrist, making sure not to bite you but holding you in his mouth and lead you to what he thought you should see. He was super smart could work a number of the doors in the house, would hide money, and one day when the dog was hungery brought my bed ridden dad his dog bowl, a can of soup, and the can opener cause he knew my dad couldn't go down stairs to feed him kibble

Catey Evers This actually happened to my best friend. Her late brother got a pit bull, Brick, TOTAL suck. Anyway, he was playing with another dog and this dogs owner was an old man and he actually called animal control cause their playing was getting a little rough. He was loosing his mind when animal control got there. Yelling and screaming at my friend, claiming Brick had bitten this dog and all this crap. The guy wanted to press charges but when this other dog got looked over, there was nothing wrong with him, animal control let the whole thing go. Apparently they get tons of calls from dumb people freaking out over a pit bull in a park.

You are very correct. I have 2 boxers and i know there are a lot of dogs with personality but these two and many other boxers i've met are just the biggest goofballs you'll meet. when the play with each other they will do as their name suggests and stand up and push and wrestle with their front legs and sometimes they come back with scratches from playful biting, but when theyre at the dog park all they do is run and the most they'll touch a dog is maybe a tap to get their attention. boxers and pits are just muscular sweethearts

iactually found a lost pit bull this week with no collar and he was just chillin gin my backyard, i approached the dog carefully because i didnt know if the dog was violent or not, I mean that for any type of dog not just pit bulls. he was a buge brown pitbull and i came out slowly and he saw me and instantly ran towards me, naturally i got a bit startled but he just wanted to play because he did not bite me or attack me,he licked me instead, he was so sweet and lovable, my dogs were just sitting there barking at him and he didnt really seemed bothered by that. on the same day, luckily the owner saw that we found her dog in our front yard and she's a very nice lady and she didnt yell or anything at the dog for escaping, she was just positive and grateful that we found him before he went too far. dogs really pick up on our personality and we shape on how they become, pit bulls arent genetically violent. any dog can be violent or sweet, just depends on the owner

I dont believe those "statistcs" I played with dogs all my life including Pits and they are very sweet. Just try to imagine a new born puppy, knows nothing about the world or anything else, he/she doesnt know right from wrong, he/she only knows what the owner teaches them. The owner could be bad and only teach it to fight and attack, or it can teach it to love and respect other living things. You cant blame them knowing right from wrong(applies to any breed of dog). Same with children, what if a child is born into a racist family? That child will believe everyone different from them is trash and will want them erased from the face of the earth. The main blame would go to the people who raised the child. That child isnt born knowing whats wrong or right, it only knows what is taught to them by their parents or guardians. By the way, Pit bulls used to be known as Nanny dogs by how gentle they were towards children

The only reason people have negative images of pit bulls is because of the bad dog owners. That and, they get their names Pit bulls because they used to be pit dogs, that were raised specifically for fighting other dogs/animals in pits(if I got something wrong correct me). But if trained/raised correctly, any dog, not just pit bulls can and will be wonderful friends. I'm a cat person, but that doesn't mean I don't like dogs, I have my favorites in the canine community as well. I just prefer cat's to the more needy dogs.

phoxy fir agreed, I know cat lovers and dog lovers who dislike the other species for a specific reason, though some disliked them just because they were cats or dogs. I can tell you that I've had some bad experiences with dogs, in fact when I was little I was afraid of dogs because many that I encountered were vicious towards me for absolutely no reason. There was one guy at the end of our street who had a big pit bull, he always had it chained in the front yard(which he had no gate for the front). And sometimes he'd have it loose in the back where it was gated. Though one day when I was walking to the bus stop which is right next to his house, I didn't see the dog anywhere in his yard which put me at ease since that dog always seemed to want to jump off it's chain at me. But then as I got in front the house(mind you I'm on the other side of the street), the dog suddenly came rushing at me from out of nowhere and came inches close to biting me too. Luckily for me, the owner came out just as the dog got close enough to almost bite me and called it back. My heart was racing and I never went to that bus stop again, I ended up going to one at the longer end of the street after that. This was back in junior year of high school. A few days later I guess someone called animal service on him or something, cause the dog got taken away and they moved away two days later.

thats a horrible experience. i have a friend who i asked which one she preferred. she said she liked cats but didnt hate on dogs, just kinda disliked them. then i asked her why and she said when she was younger, at the beach there was a dog that for some reason wasnt on a leash and bit her head. kinda hard to believe, but i can understand why she would dislike them after that. it was totally comprehensible. the one that has no reason to dislike dogs absolutely hates them, and the one that was hurt from one just dislikes them. so its interesting how people are. im glad u still think that dogs are cool and dont detest them or tried to judge all of them based on that one experience u had :)

I'm sorry for your loss. I bet she's in the big field in the sky. :) I've grown up around pit bulls. My big sister had two pit bulls when I was little, and they were both really sweet dogs. One was a misnomer, named KC which stood for killer canine, and the other named buster. They were so sweet, but her neighbor called the animal shelter because her kids were scared of them. The animal shelter took the dogs away and my sister didn't have the money to pay their bail, so I don't even wanna think about what happened to them after that.

Sorry for your loss. I also recently lost my Pitt Bull to cancer. She was the most loving, friendly, puppy-like, loyal, big lap dog I had ever known and she completely changed my perception about the breed. It amazes me how easy the american people were fooled by the media regarding this breed, almost as if we were being tested for bigger lies to come. Months later I still miss my Bella deeply...she opened my eyes to stop instantly believing what's being spoon-fed to us without doing my own research beforehand. She taught me to use my own brain and think for myself in my older years when narrowminded thinking can be the easier route to take!

I completely agree, I rescued a chihuahua who is the sweetest thing but has a total Napoleon complex around larger dogs. Everyone seems to thinks that chihuahuas bark all the time, and are nippy, but he never barks, loves to play, is very athletic for his age going on 3 hour long advanced hikes and still having energy. I've known a huge mastiff that let his owners other dog (who was tiny) boss him around. Plus, volunteering at animal shelters you get any number of different canine personalities in there, so I've seen huge gentle giants that look mean, small dogs that bite, friendly dogs of all sizes, etc.

There was a bit bull or some other type of big "scary" dog running around my neighbourhood last Halloween. Everyone was scared to get the dog I case it attacked them. I walked quietly over to the dog, knelt down and called it over. It ran over and I held it by its collar and walked it to my home so my mum could call who ever it was she called. It was the cutest dog ever❤️ dogs are only as dangerous as their owner. If I'm 15 and know that then I think everyone should get it into their heads.

Awwwww that's reminds me for something I did a long time ago ok here is the story: So one day a mastiff (I think) came to my door my sister want outside and the dog was there she was my precious! I died of how cute she was! She had nobody with her and I don't think a collar we kept her with us for like 5 or 4 days idk but yea so she had to sleep outside ya know cause she might of had fleas and we had 3 other dogs. So I ran to my neighbors house and told him about it so we felt really bad that she had no owner so me and my neighbor maid a little animal thing were we raise money for animals! But nobody came :( so we gave up we went back to my house and i showed him the dog and we didn't know if it was a boy or a girl but my neighbor said it was a girl so I said "Ok" and we decided a the name sharpe and a couple days later the pound came and took her (My mom called cause sadly she can't stay)I seen from my window I cried and cried and screamed "Sharpe come back please come back to mommy"

Cheryl Loke the smaller dogs are generally a lot more aggressive, which is sad. Whenever I come across dogs I'm a little more wary around little dogs, having a American bulldog I know how sweet and innocent these types of breeds are. The main problem with little dogs is that the owners keep picking the damn dogs up, they can walk for themselves... It makes them feel powerful and protected, which leads to aggressive behaviour.

EVERYONE has stereotyped Pitbulls as these vicious dogs. It's not true. I have a mix (and he looks more pit than anything), he's a loveable goof, still very puppy-ish. He wants to jump on you and sit in your lap and lick you like no tomorrow. He's a good dog. Had I not rescued him he would've been put down right away (the previous owner was willing to let him go to the pound where he would've died for just looking like a pit). Secondly, as some people have said in the comments, if another breed of dog attacks (Lab, Husky, Golden Retriever) attacks it's like nothing ever happened...a Pit, a Rottweiler, or a German Shepard attack and suddenly they're Satan's dogs? Come on. ANY dog can be a vicious dog. Just like any human can be a serial killer. Tell me I'm wrong. It has to do with up bringing and their environment. You may only hear about the Pitbull attacks on the news. How much do you wanna bet that they might've been a fighting dog before? Or they may have an aggression issue the owner didn't take care of (or even caused)? People don't think logically. Any dog can be an aggressive dog it all depends on how it was raised. I'm glad I saved my dog from being put down, I'm glad to have him. Pit or not.

A dog is not supposed to jump all over people and lick them, the dog is supposed to be calm and submissive, like the ones in the video. I had a friend with a pit bull. That pit bull was the sweetest thing ever alive. She was a very happy dog. She had a great temperament, she loved people and was so gentle with everybody. My friend's family had a little baby boy, and that baby basically grew up with the dog. The dog would flip on her back and the baby would just sit on her belly and laugh while the dog just laid there, happy as can be. That pit bull was straight up the most calm and sweet dog I have ever met and loved everybody. It's too bad she died recently.... rip Rubi

I recently lost my pit bull as well... She was attacked by a guy on a motorcycle so she never really got along with bikers... Well one day a woman on a motorcycle stopped at the end of our driveway and my pit bull went to see what she was doing... The woman kicked her in the stomach and so my pit bull saw her as a threat and bit her leg... There wasn't even a scratch but since it was a pit bull she had to get put down... We recently found out she wasn't put down and was sold for dog fighting..

You should get one. They can be stubborn sometimes and a butthead like most dogs but they are amazing. If you treat them right then they can be great dogs to cuddle with. The reason people say they are scary is because they don’t treat them right and that’s just sad. Like any other doggo you have to be stern with them and spend time with it. But if you do the results are amazing. An amazing cuddler and a pretty good guard dog (just in case).

Every dog can be aggressive and attack. Because pit bulls are naturally strong with a powerful jaw strength, people use them for the wrong reasons (guard dogs, dog fighters etc.) so that's where the aggression stereotype comes from. In my experience, smaller dog breeds such as chihuahuas are actually more likely to be aggressive. If *any* dog is not socialized, trained and/or treated correctly they will most likely turn out to be highly fearful.

Akasha C-Z Real pitbulls were bred to be animal aggressive. The dogs in the video are not pits. Along with that, they were also bred to be human friendly and often make horrible guard dogs. Whether a dog will be aggressive or not depends on many things, not just how they are raised.

I said that they originated as a mix of terrier and bull dog to get a high drive tough dog. They where used in fighting however they where also used in just about anything else. Just because they are out walking doesn't mean the dog enjoys strangers or is friendly towards certain people. My cousin has a rescue "bait dog" that was used for dog fights. well My friend ( the owner ) and I , were working on a car im his garage , when I arrived at his home the dog started going off on me , barking and all that . Later , the dog was being chill and what not I was sitting on a fire , the dog was calm he was circling around , even went between my legs , so I thought this a nice doggieee . And boomm , he turned on me and started barking and bit me in my thigh , he was hanging on so hard I couldn't push him of Me. I had to hit him with a breaker bar to get him off and the owner beat the crap out him for the following minutes with his belt. My leg is healing just fine , so no biggie

I've had small lap dogs that bark and play fight. When they do that it seems harmless and comical. My Pit can do the exact same thing, and it'll sound/look much more serious... but she's just trying to play. It isn't her fault that her bark is deeper and she looks intimidating. I think many of these accounts of pitbulls "snapping" are, in actuality, them being playful, but the owners just don't have a good enough connection with animals to understand them.

My brothers american staffordshire bull terrier have attacked my dog three times. The last time my dog almost died. He's great with humans but awful with other animals. Hold on before you assume that I'm unaware of this. I know a Pit bull that likes all kinds of dogs. I know not all Pit bulls are like this, but I just don't like the way that in my Province, Pit bulls by law have to be locked up in the house, have chains in their yards, even if they have a fence, and should they be seen out of their property without muzzles and harnesses, the owner can get fees of over 100 dollars or more. Pit bulls have no respect because of the dog fight stereotypes here. This dog was crying and when some dogs actually went out to say hi, he stopped and was really happy, and obviously had no intention to hurt, he just wanted to play. Please don't assume I don't know things like that.
