It is gone because of strict safety rules that was restricted in California except Roller Coasters, in which the peoplemover was changed to a roller coaster, and it failed.

I think the reason it was shut initially was because the foundation is now unsafe for such a ride. They unfortunately would not only have to close the land, but tear it down and build it anew.

This is a great ride for when it rains or when you have small children and need to relax for a little bit. When I was there in 08' I rode this thing like 5 times in a row with my friend's 2 year old while we waited for her parents and my hubby to ride Space Mountain. She loved it and it beat just waiting on a bench for them.

I remember riding this as a kid and my Mom getting so scared. She thought we were about to go on the space mountain ride, and she was having none of that! Great times. This was my daughters most requested ride when she went last year.

Rode this several times during our stay last year. It was awesome. We mainly rode at night (while waiting for wishes) and all the lights were beautiful. It was cool outside so the breeze was nice!

The ride was the centerpoint of the park when designed by walt disney. it never stops moving, it always runs. (Unless a wheelchair has to board) It was a perfect design. it was supposed to go park wide thru other hubs. it was going to be a full transit system, but walt disney died before he could carry out his dream.

This ride is in a small category I deem the best ride in WDW. Don't believe me? The category includes The Monorail (Only if you have the Park Hopper) The WDW Train The TTA (People Mover) Now what makes these three the best rides? 1) Killing Time for Fast Pass 2) It'll keep the kids entertained while the parents and older teens can rest their feet 3) People Watching 4) It gives a decent rest from the "overwhelmingness" of Disney to the less experienced guests 5) Continuously Moving Lines!

It was designed by Walt Disney. It is many things. It is a ride, a showcase of Tomorrowland and the Magic Kingdom, a place to rest, etc. It was supposed to be a full transit system that brought people to different lands but Walt died before that could happen. Right now it is all the things I listed before plus it was the center of Tomorrowland and it looks cool around the top of the land. It is also unique as it is a moving transit system that never stops unless there is someone in a wheelchair.

This ride is great! It's a nice change of pace when you need a break from the sun. If you're good enough you can sneak a quick power nap on it! Although at times we call this ride the "Infamous People Stopper" LOL

Tomorrow Land is a great place to go at this park, however going there in the afternoon seems to have the best effect on me, never before 1 P.M. will I go here otherwise it doesn't seem right, but at night this ride is amazing.

That Space Mountain tunnel on the People Mover was so dark, so DAH-ARK and scaaaaaryyyyy. Good thing somebody turned the night vision on while they were in the tunnel.

@acpowers13 The Disneyland version had the Goodyear tires spun by individual motors. The WDW twist to the PeopleMover is LIMs (linear induction motors) where the magnets push and pull the trains. The 3rd generation PeopleMover installed in Houston Intercontinental Airport also uses LIMs, but the cars and stations are different the DL/WDW models.
