I love Redwood Empire!! Screaming Titan was always one of my favorites. I've picked up Pipe Dream Cask Strength, Grizzly Beast, Pipe Dream 101, and a few others, but by far the best I've had is their new Haystack Needle bourbon. It's 8 years old and entirely their own distillate. I love this bottle so much that I found a backup for about $130 locally. I would buy more if I found them. They are going to do some great things now that they will be sourcing less and their own stuff ages.

It's my favorite distillery, haven't had one thing that wasn't delicious or overpriced for the quality. CS pipe dream is my weekend pour and I rotate through the regular lineup stuff when I want a drink during the week

Lost Monarch lower proof is crushable as they say. It’s pretty muted and light. Good for beginning bourbon drinkers.

As much as I love the regular Lost Monarch, I was really hoping the CS version would be better than it turned out to be. It could be that the CS is a slightly different mashbill than the regular, and the batching of both are different mix %s of sourced vs their own distillate. All that said, Redwood Empire is still my favorite distillery, and I still love everything they release.

I have stayed away from this one because a few reviewers have said the cask strength version of this one is not as good as the regular release. I like the regular release so I will stick with that. The two of you just solidified what I was thinking already so thank you. Cheers!

I get red hots from pipe dream. I liked it at first and then I grew to not care for it as much as the bottle got lower. I loved regular Lost Monarch from first sip to bottle kill. I’m yet to try the rye.

Lost Monarch Cask Strength is actually one of my favorites on my bar. Really surprised you found it so lacking on the nose. The bourbon/rye mix is really nice. Btw, the bourbon is Pipe Dream.

Try the Pipe Dream CS…it is fantastic. I didn’t really care for the Emerald Giant CS Rye, but weirdly enough I really like the 100 proof Rocket Top Rye.

Of all the lower proofers we’ve tried from Redwood Empire, Lost Monarch is our favorite. I think we missed that point in this video.

Interesting ... I'm not a gigantic fan of Redwood Empire, but I've enjoyed some of their products. Oddly, I prefer Lost Monarch at the lower proof point, but cask strength I prefer Pipe Dream. To each his own.

Emerald giant first. Pipe dream second and Monarch third for the cask strength. Grizzly beast is the bottled and bond pip dream is there bourbon. BnB rocket top rye is amazing!!

Agree with you 100%. The Emerald Giant (Rye) is my preferred Cask Strength expression. The BiB Rocket Top (Rye) is an amazing whiskey as well.

I've always heard that Lost Monarch CS is the weakest of their cask strength offerings. I do enjoy the Pipe Dream CS quite a bit

I like Redwood Empire ryes, Emerald Giant Cask Strength Rye Whiskey is very good. Even though I like high rye bourbons, I've not had a bourye that really floated my boat.

The only thing I've had from Redwood Empire is the Pipe Dream bourbon (I think it was the Pipe Dream), and I hated. Now a lot of people like it or even love it, but *for MY palate* it was awful. I have no plans to try anything else from RE, which means there's more for those who like their juice. 🙂🥃

The LM is my least favorite of the CS offerings. However, it is my favorite of their three 90 proofers. Their limited edition bottles are killer!!

This is available locally at that price range. I may need to pick one up. On a totally different note. I want to get a Michters to try. I think my local store has the US1s. Which one would you pick for yourself. Our palates are similar. TIA cheers 🥃

The Michter’s US*1 bourbon isn’t ground breaking but it is a sweet, good, low proof sipper. For $40ish in most markets, we’re fans.

Regular proof Lost Monarch for me - at $35 it hits high on the value range. I don't like the cask strengths with their newer modified mashbills with a touch of wheat in it. To me it's that wheat bringing in the touch of funk.

I’ve only had the older, lower-proof base expression of this which I liked well-enough…if maybe not enough to rebuy, but with so much stuff out there, especially single-barrels, and too many bottles owned personally, that isn’t unusual. I remember when these CS versions came out that it seemed like the normal review, even from RE lovers was…not as good.
