Isle of Raasay! Kinda the new kid on the block! Opened in 2017 right off the cost of Isle of Skye. Hebridean is a group of islands northwest side of Scotland. Full disclosure I love what Raasay is putting out for being so young and I may have 6 or 7 different releases from them. 😂 Glad you guys enjoyed it!

Base offering is a blend of three casks types (Rye, Bordeaux and Chinkapin) both lightly peated and unpeated. They have cask strength offerings of the 6 components. I know SLB tried the unpeated Chinkapin and said it slaps. I have that bottle and agree. If you are a cask strength bourbon drinker it is a great segue to scotch.

Englishman in Mexico here ,,this pour is outstanding from a new distillery,, they do some outstanding pots, One to try at cask stretch , 116.2 is from Arran, called, Machrie Moor, you will love that one, similar profile to this one but more balanced in my view, drinks so well , If you can get it try and buy one,, pity I am in Mexico,, hard to shop up to you,, nor Trump has put the hate on us here,, maybe harder to ship, Keep smiling,, enjoy these videos, more scotch reviews please,, cheers and good lick finding my choice

The only whisky I've ever had that gave me a clear pineapple note is Laphroaig 10, another peated Scotch (Balcones Lineage Texas Single Malt gives me an impression tropical fruit which might include pineapple, but there's not a separate pineapple note). Barley is a fruity grain, or so it seems to me, so it's not surprising that y'all are getting pineapple. 6:43 "Frugal" is one word for the stereotypical Scot. I once saw some documentary or other on which a tour guide at St. Giles cathedral in Edinburgh said, "We Scots suffer from short arms and deep pockets." 🏴 8:13 "Hebridean" (heb-ri-DEE-an) means it's from the Hebrides (HEB-ri-deez), the Western Isles of Scotland. Islay is one of the Hebrides. Just FWIW, the Orkneys are the islands to the north of the Scottish mainland. There are also the Shetland islands, but I've exhausted my knowledge of Scottish geography and can't begin to tell y'all where they are. 🙂

Another young distillery (2017) that is releasing their scotch, and should be tried, is Nc’nean. I recommend it.

Cool little outfit Rassay is. I picked up the lightly peated 2023 special edition from them that expressly says it was first aged in ex-Four Roses barrells and then finished in Columbian oak which is...different 😅. There is a LOT of information on the label. The '23 was a 5 year old at 50.7% A gentler sip than your sample that's for sure! Thanks for the vid guys!

Great single malt coming from Raasay. Wonderful distillery to visit; there is a boutique hotel attached right to the distillery. Alasdair Day is a master of mixing different cask types (Bourbon, rye, wine, chinkapin, humboltii). If you get an opportunity try the Dun Cana (Sherry quarter cask) or Na Sia (single Cask bottlings.)

I’m not sure why, but adding a few drops of water to your whisk(e)y works a lot better with Scotch whisky than with American whiskey. Or any other international whiskey . With Scotches it’s worth adding a drop or two of water even if it’s low proof, like 86 or 92. It’s not going to make it better every time, but more often than not you will see a difference. Oh, yeah, and I really like Raasay. Of the new distilleries in Scotland, for me it’s right there with Ardnamurchan and Lochlea.
