It's nice to see how different regions cook. I was a little taken aback by the first dish because it didn't look like the curry I know. I'm from The Bahamas, and it's curry chicken, and looks more like the last one. There is no right or wrong way to make food. The only criteria is for it to taste good. I might try my hand at making some African-inspired chicken curry.

To my fellow West Indians surprised that other countries (especially countries in Africa) actually make curry chicken (or chicken curry-the word placement is not that important, despite different variations in cooking styles...there's curry, and there's chicken 😂), please do remember that in order for y'all to have made your version of it in the Caribbean, our enslaved African ancestors who brought that tradition with them passed it down through generations so that you would make yours...so it's ALL connected! 😉 West Indians (and Black Americans, and Afro-Latinos/South Americans) are just forcefully relocated Africans now residing in the Americas...hell, we're all "American" if we were born in the Americas, and we ALL Black and trace back to Africa ✊🏾 and share a number of similar dishes, so let's celebrate our diasporic connections! 🙌🏾 Great episode! 👏🏾

As a Jamaican who travels and have contacts with people from different parts of Asia, Europe and Africa the ' curry ' differs. Most think of curry as a turmeric dish and there are so much diffrent curries. Jamaicans put the word ' curry ' before the protein or vegetables and the word curry is a noun so we Jamaicans actually have it ( wrong ) but we are also ( right ). We say rice and peas and not beans and rice. India has so much curry it would blow your minds and take an extensive time to try them out.

@@tawanamukasa9498 I agree! Either having whichever heritage, doesn't make it better. Besides, that's not a great argument because East Africa - especially Kenya/Tanzania has a massive Indian community, and alot of the dishes have Indian influence. So the first response on this thread, doesn't hold that much weight.

@@_Sharon_JTotally agree. One of my professors from college gave me a food history article on Indian food and it’s world influence because he admired my love of history, and I found out that among the places influenced besides Africa and the Caribbean were places like the UK (curry masala), other Asian countries (curry), and Mexico (mole). It’s rather ridiculous that some Jamaicans in the comments are acting like Indians only shared their food culture in Jamaica.

This was very enticing to watch. The whole cast was very respectful of each other's plates and the mom was a fair judge. I would love to try some of the mom's cooking. Please keep these videos coming, Cocoa Butter.

I loved this episode. I thought Amarachi was going to be a hater, but I appreciated her honesty. When I think curry chicken, I think West Indies, so it was interesting to see the first 2 dishes. They all looked great! Loved mom's energy too.

An African twist on a chicken curry? It's just African food, not a twist on anything. Is yours a twist on Indian food since they originated it? Lmao.
