Judging by the crow/wildlife’s aversion to the forest’s proximity, the locals’ frequency of health complications, and the propensity of mental illness, the town(and surrounding earth) almost definitely has an absurdly irregular mineral composition, possibly further than surface level. If somebody should sample the soil located several feet down, this mystery could turn ‘Boring’!

See my comment. I agree about the water supply issues, and add Rye grain storage problems as well.

Most if not all of the issues can be attributed to natural phenomenon. Heavy metal poisoning from the well water, and Ergot mold from improperly stored Rye grain come to mind. You could grow Rye almost anywhere in New England, as it is a very hardy plant. If it becomes damp in storage, Ergot mold can grow. Ergot toxicity can be devastating, resulting in death.

Oh, I forgot one other thing! The soil and water have been tested several times over the years. No lead or other contaminants that would affect one’s health.

Its actually a documented case of ergot poisoning. Fungus that grows on wheat that produces LSA (lysergic acid), everyone eats wheat, everyone hallucinates, and goes crazy.

@@benitob2037 There's a general store in the area, you maybe able to park there for a while. To the left you'll see a bend in the road with a metal guardrail alongside it. There's a creek there. Follow the creek up the mountain and it brings you right into the area where you'll see some stone walls and old foundations which are remnants of the old settlement. Its about a 45 minute hike one way depending on your physical condition. I went there twice back in the 80s but I'm sure the store is still there. Nobody patrols the woods but don't use the road and try to park up there or the blue meanies will harass you. Hope this helps some.

I hate to bust everyone’s bubble, but almost everything you have heard about Dudley Town is fiction. I live 14 miles from the land you are talking about. Why do I call it “land”? Because Dudley Town is not actually a town at all as it is part of the Town of Cornwall. I walked through this area extensively back in the mid 80’s when it was still accessible with some friends and also explored one of the caves we found. There really is nothing creepy about the area other than the sheer quiet that you experience. I believe it is quiet due to the actual density of the forest itself. So, you do not hear birds, therustling leaves or other wildlife when you are deeper into the forest. Many people say it gets dark at noon. No, this is not true either. The area appears dark because of the density of the growth that does not allow the sunlight to penetrate easily and that fact that it is positioned between two mountains. I have heard people say that they explored abandoned house on the property. This is also not true. There are no houses to be found as you will only see the foundations of houses that once existed. The parcel is approximately 1000 acres and keep in mind that only 26 families ever lived on this property. So, it was not heavily populated and not a lot of houses. The property is now privately owned and the current owners don’t want anyone on the grounds due to previous damage, vandalism and fire pits that were created by would be thrill seekers who still want to believe it is haunted. If you speak with descendants of the Dudley family they will tell you there is no truth to the stories you hear.

Go there by yourself around dusk. Everyone knows it's dark because of the canopy not anything else and because you talked to someone who said they're related means nothing. I've been there around 1:00 p.m. and it's not exactly bright.

@@jacktorrance2633 I have visited Dudley Town many times over the years dating back as far as 1977. Yes, it is a bit on the dark side but not the pitch black that many make it out to be. I have been there at Ma y different times of day and night at different times of the week. I have been there alone and at times with other people. I still live in the area. Most of what you hear is fiction, exaggeration and over embellishments of the area. So, what exactly is the point you are trying to make? You’re only stating what is common knowledge. What suddenly makes you the expert. How many ti es have you been there? When was the last time?

I first learned of Dark Entry and Dudleytown in the 1980s; a friend's family owned a heavily wooded property next to Kent State Falls (the stream that fed the waterfall ran through the property, right next to the house). We'd spend holiday weekends up there at the cabin. I twice tried to find Dark Entry but didn't know it's actual location, so that didn't work.

"It's worth staying away from." Yes but for a non-paranormal reason. The police will be called and if you're lucky you'll only get a fine but it could amount to a new fashion statement consisting of stripes and vertical bars :) I know someone local who was fined but nowadays Dark Entry/Police aren't as friendly.

Have to clarify some of the history here. Upon the death of Edward VI (a protestant and Henry VIII's son by his 3rd wife, Jane Seymour), Lady Jane Grey (also a protestant and the great niece of Henry VIII) was put on the throne in 1553 by John Dudley the Duke of Northumberland. This was looooong after the reign of Henry VII (Henry VIII's father). Lady Jane Grey reigned for 6 days, and was deposed by Mary Tudor (a Catholic and daughter of Henry VIII by Catherine of Aragon, Henry VIII's 1st wife). She was put in the tower and initially spared execution by Mary. But when Jane's father initiated a protestant rebellion to get Jane back on the throne, Mary Tudor executed her (and her husband Guilford Dudley, son of John Dudley).
