She responded that " you don't know that and it's not true." Many of our popular talent are promoted to look as such. Many are trying to find out how to pay basic bills. Due to their label charging them for every single thing that they do. By the time, everything that's owed and taken out of their paychecks...there's hardly any money left for the artist. This is why most wise artist, nowadays create their own labels or production companies so that they can eliminate those extra , high end costs and the middle man.

Tevin I feel like I should tell you this right now in the stage of life you're in right now. When your album "I'm Ready" dropped I had never heard of you but I immediately fell in love with your voice. I was in the Marines at the time and I was homosexual having to hide it from the Corps . I also had plenty of friends who were also gay stationed with me. I immediately went out and bought your new album and began playing it on my trusty CD player in the barracks very loudly. I had guys asking me who was singing the songs to which I told them about you. Before long there were a lot of U.S. Marines dancing and singing with you!! Imagine what I just told you. Marines dancing and singing along with you!! Amazing!!

@@tvs9978 Perhaps, "amazing", when viewed through the lenses of encouragement to live freely. On one hand, they had to hide their orientation; on the other, they were openly dancing and singing to the music of an artist who was, himself, gay. In other words, "amazing" freedom of expression. If only during the course of a 2.5 minute glide to "I'm Ready", they had the strength to not only be a Marine, but, to be themselves. P.S. Also, it was, perhaps, their little sneaky-jab-middle-finger to the Marines. “Don't ask, don't tell, don't pursue, and don't harass" was instituted October 1, 1993, in essence, lifting a ban on "same gender loving" people serving in the armed forces. Tevin's "I'm Ready" album was released approximately three weeks later, on October 26, 1993. Not enough time for human thought to catch up with the government's new policy mandate.

The smile on the interviewers face was priceless. She was so calm, respectful while in aww. I really enjoyed this interview. I knew Tevin was gay the first time I saw him but it didn't stop me from enjoying his music and I still do to this day. Wishing Tevin continued success and happiness

Omg how much I love this man even more than I did as a kid!!! I’m so glad to see him happy with himself and so able to share his life and the things he’s learned over the years. This interview was like talking to an old friend and seeing how they’ve grown over the years and just being so damn proud of them. He truly has one of the greatest voices in all of music EVER and I’m so happy he’s still singing. Love you TC!

Tevin made some great albums. I knew him from 'Tomorrow,' and respected his talent but 'I'm Ready,' the album, made me a believer. 'Brown Eyed Girl' was executed so perfectly, I'd get absorbed in that energy like I was having a spiritual experience. You did that, Tevin. Keep your head up!

This was such a great interview. “Tomorrow” was part of my playlist I listened to as I did my make-up for my first musical theater show. I started my professional career at 13 years old. I’m a gay man who’s the same age as Tevin, and I remember having a crush on him when he came out with “Tell Me What You Want Me To Do.” Still, “Strawberry Letter 23” was my favorite song, along with this video with his goofy dancing and cute smile. I was relieved to watch this video and see that he’s now out and proud. He’s still adorable as a middle aged man and I’d love to hear him sing live someday.

Great interview! No topic was off limits, he was transparent, & it was respectful. I loved Tevin growing up and I still listen to his music. My kids know of him & listen to his music even now. I remember forcing my Dad to replay the Back on the Block cassette tape over and over in his car because I couldn’t get enough of this young kid I’d never heard of before. Love you so much Tev. Tevin sung THE song of my childhood - I2I! A Goofy Movie is my favorite Disney movie of all time & it wouldn’t have been remotely as good without Tevin’s music as Powerline. I got to meet he, Jason Marsden (Max), Bill Farmer (Goofy), and Rob Paulsen (director) when I was working at Disney almost 9 years ago & got to dance along with him during a performance of I2I before my health took a hard turn. It was a once in a lifetime experience & Tevin was SO incredibly kind to all of us backup dancers that day. The whole cast & crowd were amazing, and it will always be the highest point of my career with Disney. I work in the Walt Disney Archives now, so I get to see all the hard work that has gone into making our childhoods so special ♥️
