Having gone to high school in the early ‘80s, I do love the New Wave artists of the era - Soft Cell and Erasure near the top of the list. I do, of course, adore Elton John and Freddie Mercury, who are simply two of the greatest artists in popular music history. Luke Evans is fantastic, too; I bought his latest album a couple of years ago when he first released it. I’m a big fan of several LGBTQ+ Broadway performers who have also had success in either popular music or acting. Raúl Esparza, Gavin Creel (omg he’s sooooo hot!), Billy Porter, Ben Platt, Jonathan Groff. My favorite gay male singers, though, are a few guys I know and have worked with in my opera career. Michael Chioldi and Troy Cook are two I’ve worked with multiple times. They’re both quite successful, having performed at the Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco Opera, Los Angeles Opera, places like that. Efraín Solís is someone I’ve only worked with this year, but he’s phenomenal - plus he’s adorably cute…
