I owned a pitbull for 12 years. No matter what, I always muzzled him when we went outside. I never ‘trusted’ my dog. He was a very good boy, but I’ve also seen him in a mood too. I’m so tired of hearing about irresponsible pitbull owners. Edit: I also never let him off leash & in that 12 years, I had only 1 incident with another dog. I took Zeus out to pee & he saw another dog walking by. I had to jump on him & put him in a chokehold. The bulldog that went by was never attacked. But it was still scary.

I think I put muzzle on any animal. That makes the animal get aggressive my opinion.. it can make them feel aggressive.. I mean if you have them as a baby I don't see why they put muzzles on dogs.. it's how you raise the dogs .
@bladeofwar
@bladeofwar 2 жыл бұрын
@@annkneeter7059 Lol, it literally removes their ability to kill, that's the whole reason. Furthermore, you could raise a dog for 12 years and it can still attack another animal. To assume the dog won't do anything because its properly trained is ignorant and short-sighted, and causes dogs to die and lawsuits like this one to ensue.

I was hiking in the woods in a very rural area.my trained akita was loose(got bear problems in these woods)when all of a sudden a streak of fur flew out from a bend in trail and starting biting my akita.she grabbed it,chomped down once,it was mortally wounded.i thought at first it was a mother rabbit defending her young but was shocked to see it was a yorkie.the owners came running up.i was mortified,my akita never attacked any wild game or domesticated animals.the yorkie parents said it always had a problem with big dogs and would attack,that's why they were walking it way out in boonies so no doggo problems.they were devestated but said they knew one day a big dog would hurt it to defend itself cuz its a dog..i cried so much but they didn't blame me.it was horrible,still cry thinking about it.little dogs can challenge big dogs and a big dog will at times fight back.

@rezotydnic
@rezotydnic 2 жыл бұрын
Those owners in thinking they were bring responsible by walking their dog 'out in the boonies' forgot one major thing. A dog that is aggressive, regardless of size, must be, by law, under control at all times. Control means, on leash, or 100% recall. Poor little dog in this case was not and it cost him/her. Not your dogs fault. He simply reacted to an attack.

Yep, but when a pit bull is involved, that's all people seem to be concerned about. I hate even hearing these cases. My mom, sister and I all own pit bulls. We take good care of them. They are some of the best dogs we've ever owned. They'll cower if another dog runs at them. Many little "yappy" dogs act like they're big and have often tried to start fights with my bigger dogs. But people assume it's the fault of the big dog owners.

Pit bulls are honestly such a liability. I don’t think they’re bad dogs inherently (they’re animals) but it seems like their instinct to kill/attack is higher than in other dog breeds and they have much more muscle to do the damage. So it unfortunately turns out fatal much more often.
@shannontrent3702

They aren't with the right owners. And if you look at the research, they aren't even the top 3 most aggressive breed.
@elvickRULES
@elvickRULES 2 жыл бұрын
@@shannontrent3702 yeah it was definitely “aggression” that killed this dog. Very relevant factoid. Aggression in a mouse and aggression in a lion. I wonder if that would manifest differently… In fact chihuahuas are often aggressive. They can however be punted to the moon. A pitbull however when it attacks a person it locks on and will withstand being beaten to keep latched onto its prey. But sure, aggression. That’s what’s important. Not attacks or kill count. Which Pitbulls are the winners of, by a large margin! People who defend this breed are always so dishonest. Or think a cute picture of a pitbull with a bow, flower or baby magically undoes the pitbulls nature. They were bred to be this way. They’re not cute nannies. That’s why they tear up kids’ faces or maul grandma to death. They’re oh so cute until they aren’t. Then they crowd shelters because nobody wants to deal. Yet backyard breeders keep making more of these and mixing them with more breeds to ruin them too. Quite fascinating that a breed that isn’t as aggressive as others manages to out kill and out attack the more aggressive breeds. Fascinating indeed.

Yorkies may not be aggressive, but they are known to bark a lot and other animals (as well as people) often get irritated by their almost constant yapping, which can lead others to react violently. If the dog was killed where she indicated, then it was not on her ex-husband's property, but on the property of the neighbor. If it had been on his property, it would have been behind the fence.
@jacklow9611
@jacklow9611 2 жыл бұрын
@Chris Moranchel: That's just it. The dead dog was found on the ex-husband's next-door neighbor's property, not the owner of the Pitbull's, who lived across the street. It wasn't a human who attacked and killed the dog, so what does that have to do with anything? Sometimes a small dog will get aggressive with another dog for some reason, so no one really knows what led to the dogs fighting in the first place, since nobody witnessed the initial contact between the two. While Yorkies are not usually aggressive with people, their interactions with other dogs can be an entirely different matter, and Yorkies ARE actually terriers, which can become aggressive without notice.

Judge Milian is allowing her emotions to interfere with the case. I agree with defendant stating it was not his responsibility to get on Craigslist to purchase them another dog. He originally agreed on paying for the dog's cremation/burial and that is what he should have done. Should he leash his dogs? Absolutely, and especially days after the mauling. To play Devil's Advocate... I think dog owners think that their dog or dogs will never attack another dog. That thought probably rarely or if ever crosses their mind. This doesn't mean that they are bad dog owners, maybe just unaware or clueless. I agree that there are irresponsible dog owners.

Lack of knowledge does not excuse you from guilt. It's also frankly ridiculous to claim any dog owner with a dog that weighs over 25 pounds doesn't know their dog could hurt someone or kill another dog. No matter how much we love them, these are animals! If someone doesn't understand that, they should shouldn't own a dog no matter the size.

I think that there is nothing like a strong maternal figure confronting a man who is younger. I believe that he now understands exactly how big of a dickhead he had been to this woman. With that said, while your Yorkshire terrier may not be aggressive, because your dog does not really have a way of defending itself, you really should do a better job at keeping it safe. Some of us on dogs vet will definitely hurt other dogs which is all the more reason for everyone to use a leash

@@malissathompson5673 I have an electric fence that actually went down today. Two of my dogs got off our property. Knowing that is always a possibility I have raised my dogs to be very friendly. Ten minutes after they wandered off my husband got a phone call about our puggle. He was getting pets and treats when we picked him up half a block away. Our other dog was wandering back home panting and happy to see me when I drove up to him. With wooden, chain link or electric fences, there's ALWAYS a chance for a dog to get loose.

Any animal should be under the owners personal care and control at all times. It's the owners that are always at fault but never the animals. Most of these folks know good and well that they cannot take care of the animals they own.

We had irresponsible dog owners. They had a pit bull and a big American bulldog. One day those two dogs broke out, one was in our backyard, the other in the neighbors between us backyard. The bulldog ran out of our yard and into the neighbors when I went to see what was going on. The pit had been attacking a stray cat and then the bulldog went at the cat. I got between them and broke it up. The pit bull had the worse injuries, rhe cat, Socks fucked that dog up. Cat was fine. I let their owners have it though. I was pissed.

The Real Story: As someone who knows the lady, after talking to her, she believed manipulating the story would help her case, I disagree so here's the truth: While the dog does get let loose to roam the area, in this occasion it was not. The dog was contained in the backyard, the entrance/exit of which you can see at 6:41. The Yorkie in this instance had escaped from the backyard. It had previously done this a couple times before and the area had stone blocks and multiple nails on the fence but the lil thing was pretty persistent. Back to what happened, the yorkie only went about 5ft before the pitbull got hold of the yorkie and the rest of the story, if I recall correctly, is true. Also the lady is happy now with a new pup. Edit: accidentally named the lady the defendant which caused some confusion.

both dogs were unleashed but if the yorkie was on its own property than i dont think thats against the law. your dog is allowed to be offleash on your OWN property... if it ventures out onto someone ELSES propety that is where the issue wolud be. most people dont have enough control and training via completely voice-recall to have their dog offleash even on own property but it CAN be done and some dogs have perfect recall and are trained to stay within the boundary of their own yard while offleash.
