Here is some fatherly advice to all of you out there. NEVER, leave your car to be worked on. Schedule appointments and tell them ahead of time that you will be waiting for your car to get done. ALWAYS, ask for your old parts back. If any shop tells you that you have to leave your car, they are probably overbooked and won't have the time to properly repair your car, or they want to do something shady. Asking for your old parts is legal, and it helps you see work is being really done.

Not everyone has hours to sit and wait for a repair. Sure if it is an oil change...sit around and wait...But if you are having an engine rebuilt...You do not want to sit around and wait for that. And sure you can ask for the parts back...As long as you know what you are looking at or have someone who does know look at it...If you don't it is kind of pointless since they could give you whatever parts they had laying around from another model car and you wouldn't know...

@hadley4076 ай бұрын
Very good advice. Also ask to see what they recommend fixing on your car. They will escort you into the shop. Don’t just take their word that it needs it. I’m the one that’s always out there watching them work. I agree with getting the parts back that you can, but some parts have a very high core charge and not everybody can afford to pay that. You can always ask to see your part after the car has been worked on and not keep it. And parts like an alternator you can usually see after it’s been put in.

Just so it's clear we never asked for any service other than to drop my car fo breaking down. They said it was something that it was not. And if u noticed while on the phone with the manager he said he told her no refund because they did the work but never explained how she magically got $200 from them because he did promis her a full refund. And remember they was just about to put in a second alternator. because they again misdiagnosed the problem. Her saying just give me my money back and we'll call it saves them the cost of a second alternator+labor and even if the had done it it wouldn't fixed the issue. So I can definitely see why they would refund her.

In order to refund you they have to do it in the manner it was charged. They are refunding the transaction
@glitter_and_spice15897 ай бұрын
Depends on the business and their policies. Big corporations are more likely to stick to the refund policy while privately owned shops can work to their discretion on how to handle refunds or making things right.

@@glitter_and_spice1589 Yet, They charged her & she paid for something they didn't make right "fix". They were negligent, period. Every time, I have gotten my alternator, water pump and fuel pump replaced.. they informed me that the price included the belts being replaced, because they come off to get to the part therefore they replace the belts as part of the service, due to wear/tear on the belts, it's usually time & overall best to change them at the same time.. ANY MECHANIC SHOP KNOWS THAT! Plus, doing so eliminates the exact issue she had... Now, had they changed the belt as well.. she would've never known she never really needed the alternator. the judge got this one wrong!

8:13 a bad alternator is NOT going to cause the car to shimmy and shake. It could cause starting issues if the battery is NOT being recharged..
@cMrob737 ай бұрын
What I do know is that when we purchase a new alternator they always trade the old one in for a discount on the new one. She also said it was the principle that he promised her a full refund. That was the crust of the whole lawsuit.

Yea JM was stank. Sometimes I feel like these tv judges try to model after judge Judy but they miss the mark. This was difficult to watch. Kind of glad this show ended because of this. Even the guy at the end gives off a nasty attitude.

She should have gotten a separate report from that dealer as to what exactly was making it vibrate. And it sure as heck wasn't oil or a cabin filter. LOL It sounds to me like maybe she had a broken belt on one of her tires. If the air filter is really, really bad, then it could cause the engine to not run so well but definitely not make a car shake. I don't know what she was trying to describe but an alternator is not going to make your car shake either. Can I believe the reason the judge was yelling at her is because she was talking BS!

This judge is all about ratings. She's screaming at the plaintiff and calling her a liar for what? That was dishonorable.

If you ever experience an issue like this, LAUNCH AN INVESTIGATION THROUGH THE SECRETARY OF STATE. Repair shops must be licensed through the state. I had a shady repair shop charge me $1500+ for labor and the issue which I told them in so many words was a faulty thermostat, happened the next day and shut my car off on the highway with my children inside. A new thermostat is $250 labor included. Long story short, I kept all of the parts and was reimbursed my $1500. They didn’t wanna take it to court because we did most of our business via text.

As a business owner, when someone pays me in installments, I have to refund each transaction in the same installments. My accountant/bookkeeper absolutely prefers it that way. The Judge is completely wrong about that.
