The plaintiff hired the defendant to install purple LED lights in her vehicle for a car show, but she claims the defendant didn’t know what he was doing and used duct tape to secure the lights in place. The plaintiff can’t show the vehicle in shows anymore and is suing for refund. I am happy that the plaintiff is active in the automotive hobby as everyone is welcome and encouraged to be a part of it. But as a guy who has been showing cars for years most car people hate when someone goes and buys a new car, ads a few custom lights or stickers and shows it. At our local events there are always new Corvettes and Mustangs as well as others. It's like someone competing in an art competition with a print that had a nice frame added against home made paintings. While they might be beautiful it isn't the same. Many car shows with rules that only include owner built, actually driven, older vehicles have sprung up all over the country. In the midwest "Greaserama" has become so huge that they had to move to a large fairgrounds and the show is the same weekend as the "Good Guys" trailer queen car show.

Some people obviously must like them...to use your example, art is very subjective, so is beauty... but again, I agree with you 100%. But as long as they allow them... hey..

I did see one person succeed in this with nothing but a lax attitude and nice skin. 😂 The case against her was so utterly ridiculous and the people suing her had no case and looked more and more stupid as things went on. Because anything he had would work against him. He claimed to pay $75 per roll of LEDs and anyone can buy them for about $10. He was asking for $1200 and the receipt showed that she paid $200. The job he did was worth $200, but she wanted a $1000 professional job for $200.

You don't have to be a "professional" to know that you don't install LEDs with duct tape, or that you route wires in a way that they're not visible in a show car. $300 sounds reasonable.

Based on that statement alone, JM should've known she was lying. If the lights didn't work due to anything the defendant did, they wouldn't have been working for the so-called "car show." If they weren't working then, how did she supposedly win 2nd place? On her way out of court, she said that she just had the new ones put in yesterday and told the judge she paid $680.00.. She's a scammer who thinks she can get whatever she wants and not pay for it. She should not have been given anything back from the defendant. He obviously installed the lights, and she admitted that he also supplied some of the lights. No shop is going to supply parts and labor for this much work and only charge $200.00. The judge was definitely wrong in this case.

Hi Harvey! A man i knew owned an old brown Volvo in the old days....he had to commute an hour to work each day down the highway, and used to just fly along. Then Porsches started, and the guy bought a red one. If he went 5 kms (not quite 3 miles) over the speed limit, a police officer would stop him. He didn't usually get a ticket.....sometimes he did though.....the officer usually just wanted to see the inside of the Porsche. He suffered for a year, then went back to an old brown Volvo....and raced along the highway with no stops, no problems.

My entire family owns classic cars from 55 Chevys to 40 Fords and in between, I just need to make this comment. People like the plaintiff in this case annoy the hell out of us because they come to classic car shows and bring a vehicle that has no business being their. Sure they might qualify under some stipulation that was over looked whenever the rules were being made but all of us car enthusiasts know these entires are only accepted because of the entry fee that vehicle generated for the organization hosting the show. Other then that when we see these cars it's just a collective sigh and we say Bless Their Heart as we all know the real reason these people show up with these cars is they can't afford and rebuild a REAL classic car so they own something else. Uncle Bob put on a car show at the local mechanic shop in their small home town and promised that if she helped pay for it that she would get second place. First place went to his son. That is the only way I can rationalize what just happened! She says, “Here’s the lights he bought,” then goes on to claim she bought the lights. I kinda feel like he’s more believable despite not having evidence. I don’t know how this was a fair verdict. JMM usually gives the contractor something for his work if it was worth something. And obviously it was as she won second place. Since the plaintiff said that the things done to the car in order to win was the lights being installed and it being clean both in which he did. Hence his work was not worthless. He lost his paycheck and the lights she originally admitted to him buying. And that explains the smirk on her face after the verdict was read. She didn’t get what she wanted but she got way more than was fair and she knew it. She also seemed proud of the ride she just took JMM on. I’m so disappointed with this case. Sigh.

You can tell when JM doesn't like someone and in this case you can tell it was the lady she didn't care for!! She was kind of nasty towards that lady. She had ALL THE EVIDENCE but when it came to the lights JM got nasty and didn't want to see that. What I don't understand is why he didn't have to pay for the new job!?! I have seen many many cases where some people have to pay back money for a job AND pay the difference if someone had to hire someone else to finish or redo the work!! All of that was put in wrong and had to be re-done because of HIM. If it was done right then they wouldn't have eneded up in court.
