Meanwhile, the defendant originally said oh the place was clean. No, beer cans around. And the plaintiff says there were beer cans all around. Don't understand why the defendants didn't just pay what they owed without coming to court. Did they really think they were being sued for nothing?

I’m a little surprised JM was kinda lenient on the kids, like she seemed amused at the hijinks that ensued. I can tell she has a soft spot for kids, but at the end of the day these defendants were engaging in irresponsible and illegal (underage drinking) behavior. “Kids will be kids” but that’s why I think they deserved at least a stern talking to lol

Unbelievable, JM really was unfair on this one, what if it was her rental
@MissyJ2 жыл бұрын
I think she was lenient mostly because the plaintiff admitted she didn't ask the age of her renters before this, so it was bound to happen. She's lucky they were adults, because like JM said, what if they were 14.

Judge Milian and The People's Court is by far my favorite TV court show and I agree with her rulings most of the time but I think she went a little easy on these kids. I get that kids will be kids and I went to my fair share of parties when I was young and people did a lot of dumb things but kids need to learn that there are consequences for their actions and based on the comments by those kids at the end I don't think they learned anything nor did they take responsibility for their actions. They're all in for a rude awakening as they enter adulthood.

If they are ONLY 18, how come they were drinking alcohol? The mother of the young woman who organised this event, could be held responsible for negligence...

Flip over the cushion? How about flipping the case for the plaintiff who definitely isn't supported to be responsible for the damage the defendant had caused!? This case is infuriating from top to bottom. Laughing with the kids about destroying someone's property, small talk about how old and crappy that chair was, the cushion... So disappointing.

All I know is that while I had a lot of learning to do at 18, I married at 18 and didn’t drink and didn’t go to parties and wanted nothing to do with those who did. It wasn’t my scene. I’ve never damaged anyone’s property nor would even think of such a thing. I truly don’t understand the youth of today. Entitlement is so widespread. And yes, I’m still happily married to the same man 27 years later. So it’s very possible to act like an adult at 18.
