I loved Jayka's take on how foreign food should be described as different instead of weird or disgusting. Some of these dishes were created by indigenous communities, or by people during times of hardship, others are sustainable and incredibly healthy for you, etc. So, just because you're not familiar with something, it doesn't mean that others aren't. What is uncommon to you could be extremely well-known and loved by others.

I fell like you chose the wrong Mexican foods for people to try for the first time, México is full of flavors, taste and culture, we have rich dishes that you can find all over the country, even some of them are "Patrimonio cultural de la humanidad"... And you gave them crickets 😕 I'm not offended, it's just that i find eating crickets something very stereotypical about Mexican people. Maybe net time you can try different dishes like Pozole, Flautas, Tortas, Sopes, Tostadas or enchiladas. I'm from Guanajuato, México. and there we don't put corn in Menudo, we only have the corn for pozole. A little diced onion would have been good for the Menudo as well. Some plates are prepared different depending in the state you have them, so there are some states that actually put corn in Menudo. Also, as a kid we used to eat the Pinole as candy, like directly eating the powder. (not sure if other states do the same, just my personal experience here) Just have a complaint, they put "sopes de chapulines", but just served them a bowl of chapulines. Sopes are little discs made of corn dough which you serve them with the topings you like, such as mashed beans, meat, cream and so on. So I'm a little dissapointed when I saw only the bowl of chapulines over there. It would have been more enjoyable if they were seved a real sope. They could have served them the conchas with the atole, dipping the bread in the atole is the best! Although, it makes me happy to see actually mexican food being served and not Tex-Mex plates as I have seen in other chanels, so good job on that!

@@indigo3896 Greetings. I think people confuse tortilla chips with nachos. Tortilla chips are fried to accompany many foods. Nachos became popular with the revival of the movie theater industry, which introduced many American dishes. Its shape, its color, its flavor is not to the taste of any family to replace tortilla chips.The idea of eating this fry with bland yellow liquefied cheese and sliced jalapeño peppers is outrageous. So it was more of a treat for children with tired palates. Today street vendors have more interesting products for those children.

@@erickadriansanchezjimenez9471 I’m not sure if we’re on the same page but correct me if we are, nachos were created in the 1940’s by Ignacio “Nacho” Anaya in a restaurant called the victory club for some adult patrons in Coahuila, México. Frank Liberto popularized the version you’re talking about, with the liquified cheese and sliced jalapeños, in 1976 in the US and named them “ballpark nachos”.
@erickadriansanchezjimenez94712 жыл бұрын
@@indigo3896 Totally true. But for some reason it is considered a Tex-Mex food. Its invention is justified by chance and emergency, but the final or most popular version of the dish is not from the Mexican origin. Nachos are a temporary snack that had its moment. Perhaps that snack had its moment of birth during a tourist's visit to a nightclub.But that did not make that snack popular in Mexico, but in other parts of the world. If some people feel that this product deserves to be called a Mexican tradition, as they like, it is their wish, their life. But if you ask your Mexican grandmother for that snack, she'll tell you, "I don't make Sabritas fritangas. Take a few pesos. Buy them at the store."

Mexicans are very divided regionally by food and culture, much like how the U.S. is from Southern hospitality to New England coastal fare and so on. I’m from Southern Mexico and we eat all of those foods in the video. My father’s family is from Northern Mexico and they eat differently like four tortillas instead of corn or dishes like juevos rancheros and chile colorado.
