Crazy rollover wreck under a freeway overpass! I lost count on how many rollovers and accidents we've had to recover under bridges and overpasses. This one was a bit more difficult to come over due to the odd load, but still I think it was a great job considering how big this wreck was.
While my dad and I tackled splitting the trailers and bringing everything over, my crew was clearing up the bins scattered all over the lanes and up the embankment. The job itself, while definitely difficult and tricky, was actually easier than I thought it would be. When first pulling up, it just "looked" insane. But our plan of tackling each issue one by one overcame everything and made the job smooth.
I kept a ton of extra footage in this one to show you guys what a job like this takes to clear; hope you guys enjoy!
►All footage was shot with my GoPro Hero 9. My company logo and intro/outro graphics were created by / sa.creations

Nice recovery Josh and don't worry about the arm chair QB they are not there to see the actual situation. I have done recovery when I was in the army and believe me it's a lot harder then you make it look. My wrecker only had one boom winch and wasn't able to go over the cab like yours. I would have love to of had a wrecker like yours but mine a only a 5 ton military wrecker, love the videos keep up the good work.

I won't armchair quarterback you Josh. I don't know anything about the towing industry, other than what I see on KZbin, & that's hardly training!! I have a great deal of respect for the towing industry in general. You have to go out in all types of weather, put yourself & employees in dangerous situations. I respect that & thank you for what you do! Besides, Pepe's has two rotators that cost over three quarters of a million dollars each, plus I don't know how many regular heavy duty wreckers, tractors & at least 2 or 3 landoll trailers, not to mention however many lighter duty wreckers, clean up equipment, forklifts, & numerous employees who are all very professional while working, I think that shows, your dad & you & everyone involved everyone knows the business, without any could've done this different or should've done that different from me!!😄😄😄 Was the rotator your dad was operating the one that container truck hit a few weeks ago?? Love your videos, looking forward to many many cards to to boot😄😄😂😂

I can't believe the equipment and lights on those huge Rotator Breakdown Trucks. I'm guessing they're running about a 500 horsepower diesel engine. That'd be 300 HP to drive the truck and hydraulics and 200hp/250 kilowatts worth of Alternator electric power to run the lights and winches ! Plus those "Night-Sun" work lamps, what kind of power are those mothers puttin' out ? Interesting to see this recovery. Thanks guys.

Hey Joshua, I really enjoy your videos. I binged all of the episodes you've posted for the last 12 months. Really amazing stuff you and the crew do. How does someone get a start in this type of work? You have great knowledge of Tractor Trailers. Did you start out on flatbed towing and work your way up to heavy duty wrecking or did you start out as a CDL driver driving trucks? Crane Operator Schooling? Again, tons of respect for you and your family, and Hulk is an awesome piece of Machinery. Thanks

Good question with no straight answer. Most people do start off in a light duty wheel lift or flatbed, and work their way up in the company from there by going to medium duty next then a heavy wrecker. I do know some people who started off in the crane world too.

So was the eye of the trailer to mangled and twisted from getting flipped like that, that you cut that off instead of the hook (that might have been unbolted)?
@joeacosta5011

We definitely looked at unscrewing the bolts but they were in a very confined space. Josh made short work of it. He lives his Milwaukee cut off tools
@FlexDRG
@FlexDRG 3 жыл бұрын
@@joeacosta5011 I suppose the eye is easy enough to replace (weld on a new one). But so would unbolting the remains of a cut off pintel in a shop. Hence the question if the eye on the trailer had deformed. A deformed eye is useless and would need replacing anyway. And by the look of things the pintel as well with how stuck the eye was and the forces needed to twist and buckle the eye would have damaged the pintel no doubt.

That was plan B. We did that.... It's in the video.... All it did was raise the trailer and take the second one with it. Unless you're in the industry, it's hard to imagine how twisted metal can get on big wrecks.

Nice recovery in tight conditions. Have you ever had one that was in such a tight spot you're like "Screw it, let's drag it on its side until we get somewhere we can work."?

Twice in 30 years we had to walk loaded containers down a sloped ramp due to the concavity. Basically, when we uprighted it wanted to lay over again. Bottom of ramp was a flat surface with ideal conditions for safe recovery.

27:24 Somethin' I gotta say, fam, is that plants are pretty darn resilient. There's a good chance most of the plants survived. The only thing that could really ruin the sprouts from the wreck is extensive crush damage. While it likely would've been a pain to pick all those trays up off the side of the freeway, they were mostly still alive. Besides, these sprouts were going to a nursery; the people there tend to know how to save dying plants.

You did a GR8 job as always. Do you know what caused it to flip in the first place? From what I could see after the front trailer was uprighted, the boxes weren't in the correct direction which would allow the things to shift. If they had been turned 90 degrees, instead of being able to shift sideways they would have been front to back.

That is a pretty tight curve coming after a straight shot. Most likely going too fast.

Good question, my guess would have to be too much speed heading into that downward curve leading to the overpass.
