I love to fish the way you are. I like using a #6cricket hook and slip corks. Makes casting long distances easier, especially if the depth is a foot or more.

That is two questions. Fishing with crickets is easy, you can see me putting the crickets on the hook several times in this video. And the rest of the setup is just like fishing with worms under a bobber. No I did not throw the cut end of my line in the water. I throw it between the sidewall of my boat and my battery, which is what I usually do with any of my trash until I start the outboard again.

Why do y’all call them perch? They are Bream. We call it bream or “brim” fishin.

We call them bream and bream fishing sometimes. Perch is a local colloquial for all panfish here. I realize they are not the same as yellow perch up north. We do not have those. Plus perch jerkin rolls off the tongue a lot better. And it locally best describes what type of fishing I am doing.

Live crickets are hard to find? They reproduce like crazy....just take some boards,logs,rocks,dang near anything and lay them on the ground.Go back in a week or 2 and catch a ton of them....or just go out and start flipping rocks,limbs,logs,etc. over and gather them up. Or just grow your own in those plastic 35-55 gal barrels laying on their side with 1/4 of the side cut off..a lil cornmeal and a tin lid of water.... I don't buy anything I don't have to.

OK heres what i dont understand. I can tell youre right handed. Why do right handed people reel with their left hand? You can tell how awkward it is just by looking at it. A LOT of people dont know you can take the screw off the right side which holds the handle on.... slip the handle off and switch sides replacing the screw onto the left. Now you have a right handed reel. muchhhhhhhhhh more comfortable and it enables you to reel faster. no more spasmatic reeling. lol and heres a tip so you wont miss so many fish....... before you set the hook draw down your rod and reel in two times to take up slack THENNNNN set the hook. another tip.... slip float rigs change your casting game PERIOD!!! Also easier to set depths. use RUBBER bobber stops though not those stupid lil string knots.
