Senor Blackie, you ol' "hawg jowler" you! You remembered NOT to "squeeze da shaman", right?! What a joy it is to see you start this project! How I'd love to do such a project myself. But at 81, I have neither the time nor equipment to do such. In not the greatest health, I feel I'm near the "bottom of the downside of the hill"!!! But enjoying watching YOU do what I cannot do gives me great happiness & anticipation. The wonderful joy of working with ones hands & creating a fine finished product, AND one that actually shoots too! And remember too, if you live in Alabama, it's pronounced "Alabami", emphasizing the "i" at the end, NOT an "a"!!! "Alabami bound"! Love ya my ol' "blueberry friend", or is it "huckleberry"?! "Dingleberry"???!!! Consider me as "grandpaw Ron"!!!

Interesting project. Looking forward to seeing it progress. I like to use an egg carton for holding small parts. Easy to keep screws, small parts, etc. in sequence, when disassembling/assembling revolver.

Absolutely love this project. 11 degree forcing cone or is it 14 .....I forget but I have considered doing the same ....like high end custom single action centerfires. You have energized me to go back to re profiling my pietta. Barrel sides just are not where I want them yet...and I will be removing the markings as well.

i have seen amazing improvements to accuracy once a crown and forceing cone are corrected

Hey Blackie, looks like a fun project. Seen your other video when you shot it. Didn't know they had black powder revolver kits. I just remember the flintlock pistol kits you could buy. I'll have to check out Dixie Gun Works again. Bought one of their catalogs a few years back, don't remember seeing revolver kits. Look forward to seeing your progress on the Spiller and Burr.👍

I enjoyed the detailed breakdown of the Spiller & Burr. I’m not nearly as familiar with this style of revolver as the Colt, very informative.
@BLACKIETHOMAS4 жыл бұрын
since it is a earlier design than say a 58..it has a few points unique to spiller and burr..

I have a new Dragoon and Model 1860. Would it help them to modify the forcing cones on these models, and to what degree? Will it help them with consistent accuracy? Any advice will be appreciated. I like the Spiller and Burr you have, nice revolver. Thanks Blackie for the education.
@BLACKIETHOMAS4 жыл бұрын
if the guns are new manufacture the cones are probly pretty good..the guns of the post were famous for little to no cones ..usually a simple polish will help i will be doing that in this project

Hey....that Spiller & Burr looks like the classier cousin of my Pietta 1858 New Army with the brass frame.

@@BLACKIETHOMAS I just got my spare cylinder for my Pietta 1858 from EMF Co online for $59.00. It is a great fit. Nice to have an extra cylinder. I have very bad knees and also AFIB of the heart so with my mobility issues getting out to the range to shoot is not easy. We have a great outdoor range here between Cherryville, NC and Shelby, NC. I plan to go shooting again when the weather cools down some. You know, like in January.

The two biggest reasons I by Uberti over Pietta is the pietta tail on the grip and the ugly stamping on the b sides of the barrel. It has nothing to do with quality. John Zimmerman in Harper Ferry W.Va use to sell defarbed and re-stamped Piettas or Uberti's. John don't sell them from his shop now but you can send in your Uberti of Pietta cap n ball Colt type revolver and he will defarb and re-stamp it with Colt lettering. He does a great job it is worth the money if you need a very historical looking Italian Colt.

@@BLACKIETHOMAS thanks! Have you had much experience with the ASM 1860? I broke a thank spring the other day and I'm finding that ASM parts dont interchange with Pietta or Uberti...I love this 1860 because in dated 1976 & the patina is awesome! But now it's a paper weight! Lol
