For most of them yes. In this case it absolutely makes sense that Poseidon can’t really talk to Percy. First off-Percy isn’t supposed to exist under the pact and in the books Poseidon claiming him inflamed things even more. Second with all the tension any interaction between them would give Zeus more reason to believe that Poseidon had approached Percy before the bolt was stolen.

Some things are still a bit awkward but it's nothing serious or incriminating to me bc they have their own strengths for when it matters and don't really need to be perfect, they're kids after all. There's a charm to that. And as you said, they _really_ shine with the heavier, emotional parts. Those are really admirable. The way the argument went for the seat? Whew. Natural and real. I felt that.

Personally, I feel the cast has been strong from the beginning, and it's the writing and other support that has improved. The cringey moments in the beginning, at least for me, was because they weren't being given enough to work with and/or how the scenes played out. All things considered, they did their best with what they were given. These later episodes, though, prove they have the acting chops and can deliver if given the proper support. Most Disney+ shows I've found this has been a particular frustration of mine, with the rare exception of Andor. The casting/acting is rarely the problem, even with a young cast. But now that the strikes are over, hopefully, that will be less of an issue. Regardless, we all agree the show is moving in the right direction, and I continue to be especially impressed with the talent and chemistry of the main 3, plus of course all the awesome cameos.
@user-kf3ti8xm4o8 ай бұрын
@@sanasinnersanctum I agree! I think the cast is insanely talented and from the first couple episodes it was clear to me that they were the perfect embodiments of the characters. As the story progresses and we get farther into the season, I think it just becomes more clear how much chemistry they all have together and I think it really shined through in this episode particularly. you’re spot on with your comment on how the dialogue improved this episode and how that guided them into great performances. I don’t think anyone could have handled the scenes that were a bit more cringy or awkward than this cast honestly. they’re so great on screen that I don’t even think it bothered me as much. They’re still so young and I’m incredibly impressed by what they’ve pulled off so far
@borjankosarac36458 ай бұрын
Speaking of the kids, was anyone else surprised at how much Dior Goodjohn embodied Clarisse La Rue? Not that I thought she’d be bad, but the contrast in appearance is striking enough that you’d be forgiven for thinking she might not have the same brutish intensity… but she does. I really hope that the SOM adaptation does her justice as she gets more depth explored from there (and also TLO eventually…)

The Mist isn't equally effective on all mortals. Percy's mother knew about Poseidon and could see the Minotaur just fine. Celestial bronze's inability to harm mortals is unrelated to being able to perceive it or not, even if a mortal could see the blade it would just pass straight through them.

Speaking of which, does anyone else hope that Season 3 onwards have 10 episodes each? I get it for Season 1 given the pace and smaller central cast, and Season 2 will adapt a more focused plot, but after that there’s more characters and plot threads to develop and we’ll need more time. The younger actors will also be older, so hopefully they can do a bit more by then (both logistically and ethically).

In the book he doesn't spend that much time at camp either, like a week, mostly training with Luke. The show cut that out, which I don't mind, as they only have 8 episodes. This is the episode where I went from "liking" Grover to "loving" him. Such a smart move to boost Ares' ego and trick him into revealing some information! Amazing detective work on his part! Everyone just vibing to "What is Love" is hilarious, I did the same thing haha The animation to tell Hephaestus story is so cool! We don't meet him in the 1st book so that was unexpected. The whole Waterland sequence is different but I really love it! Walker's & Leah's acting is freaking incredible, they are perfect for Percy & Annabeth! Made my heart so happy to see their relationship develop. Adam Copeland as Ares is perfect casting, he's amazing as the God of War! Interesting theories on who the Lightning Thief is. Janci is right Gods chose their appearance, it has nothing to do with the Mist. The Fates scene is in chapter 2 of the book. I was sad they didn't include in the 1st episode but they changed a bunch of stuff so it makes sense they didn't included it then. I'm very happy they included it now because it's a very important scene! "I become a known fugitive" is the title of the chapter right before this one. So I'm very happy Percy actually becomes a fugitive because it makes sense. Gabe's interview had me laughing so hard! He's a loser so of course he didn't move from his chair. It might be explained further in the next episodes so all I'm gonna say is celestial bronze can't harm humans, period. Can't believe you are caught up now, these reactions have been awesome! See you next week guys 💙

the thing is tho, that week is still written in a good amount of detail. we really do get to sit with him going through the changes from being bullied at schools to making friends at camp and then sitting alone at the feast tables cause theres no one to share his cabin. i understand tho that the show couldnt do all that cause of the time limit but i wish they atleast made it more clear how much time had passed since he showed up ther. cause it really felt like he popped into camp one night, strolled around with like net morning, hosed down clarisse at night and by next afternoon he was already off to the oracle preparing for the quest.

True. But the show skipped a bunch of stuff, almost whole chapters at times, or reworked/rearranged the structure of the events while still remaining faithful to the book and keeping A LOT of crucial scenes and that's what is most important. To me, at least. I do find it strange we didn't have a single mention of ambrosia or nectar. Percy does say "last Saturday" but I get what you are saying and I agree, that is not a clear amount of time. We don't even know how long he was at camp. It felt like 2 days. Maybe Percy tried other activities at camp, other than archery and weapon smithing but we just didn't see it? Like a sword lesson with Luke or a Greek lesson with Annabeth. Would have loved to see either or both! Anyway, I do hope we get more time at camp before the end of the season, hopefully in episode 8, fingers crossed @@lilbrownbear

Notice how much Ares lit up at Grover mentioning his “deep cuts.” Ares is the God of War, whereas Athena is the Goddess of things like strategy and battle plans. Ares’ apparent disdain for Saving Private Ryan is for a reason; Ares gets glory for the entirety of WW2, but the D-Day invasion very specifically glorifies Athena. Whereas the Lobster War, a conflict without real strategy and no casualties, ONLY glorifies Ares and NOT Athena. Ares feels like Athena is stepping on his toes, so wars that exclusively glorify him and not Athena are his favorites.

Who currently has the bolt at the end of ep 5 is so hilarious all things considered. If you know you know.

I love how they shout he is still in his chair with Percy's awful step father😂. Also the what if loce song was way to perfect

I’m going to assume a god didn’t steal the bolt for no reason other than ‘it would be to obvious’ the Olympians probably watch each other like hawks. I’m going to assume it wasn’t a human because of whatever the mist is. The humans don’t seem to be able see or interact with anything. Except Percy’s mum for some reason… So I’ll say it was a Demi-god. It would be a fucking huge twist if the Hermès’ son stole it. He’s a likeable character to me and maybe he has speed like his father (?), which is the only way I can imagine being able to take the bolt.

You haven't read the books? Oh you're in for a WILD ride!

Pretty sure Ares is responsible for starting the Great Stanley Cup War of 2024 😂 Also please watch Galavant! It's basically Alan Menken getting to score a more adult, parody version of a Disney musical and it's hilarious

Yessssss you guys are caught up! Can't wait to watch this every week with you. The lobster war, I found out later, was a war between Brasil and France over lobster fishing skhssjdjkshdjs (crazy that I didn't know that cause I'm Brazilian myself 😂)

Edge (Adam Copeland) is absolutely PERFECT as Ares! Out of every WWE superstar that I grew up watching in the mid 00’s Edge absolutely suits the god of war! 15 year old me also would’ve casted Triple H as Zeus, Batista as Poseidon, and of course The Undertaker as Hades.

As someone who grew up as more of a Percy Jackson kid than a Harry Potter kid the only thing bumming me out about the show is the grown adults fighting about wokeness 😂 Grow up, like the gods would only pro-create with the same standard white person every time? I love the casting so far. The kids can all act decently well and the gods we’ve seen all fit the part nicely enough.

Also, even though the series ended half a year ago, they stated gods need demigods to complete tasks they're forbidden to do themselves. In this example, ares couldn't go into hephaestus' workshop himself without pissing off the god so he sent the demigods instead Edit: also, it's not that the gods are forbidden, the book says it better that it's better for the gods to maintain distance from their children for many many reasons

Keep in mind, when lobsters were fed to prisoners and slaves, that was not fresh lobster. That was old, ammonia-filled lobster
