I agree that i wish they wouldn't know straight away that it's Procrustes. I guess it does make sense. We see Hermes tell them "There's a way into the Underworld", so when he told them how to get there he could also have warned them about Procrustes, but still. I agree with what you're saying about kids wanting to discover things alongside the main characters. I have been a Greek mythology nerd pretty much my entire life, but as a kid i didn't know who Procrustes was. Child-me would have much preferred learning about this myth alongside the characters rather than them already knowing everything from the start. If they really wanted the kids walking in knowing it already, they could have shown Hermes tellling it to them. We have Percy explaining the story anyway, so it wouldn't take more time or be more exposition than is already there

Absolutely. And Procrustes is a pretty deep cut, I doubt many people had heard of him before

This episode was better than the last, but probably still my 2nd least favorite, for a lot of the reasons y'all are mentioning. The lack of a clear link between Hermes saying "there is a way into the underworld" in the previous episode and then just appearing in Procrustes shop. I also hated the exposition upon entering Procrustes store, "oh this is who you are and this is what you do". One of the things that this series is definitely missing from the books is the "hidden" element of the mythological in the real world. As a reader, you are constantly introduced to mythology hidden in plain sight as Percy and crew discover that the places and people they are interacting with are actually monsters or gods, and this series has completely moved away from that from the Medusa scene onward. So after the first episode or two where we learn about the Mist and how mortals don't see everything that happens in the world, we've kinda left that completely behind.

I agree, it’s one of the choices they seem to have made for the tone of the show as a whole the rubs me the wrong way. I would like to see our protagonists surprised at least once instead of going into every situation as prepared as possible
