Glad Tara's feeling better. If the author thought the first movie was bad, I can't imagine his opinion on this. They tried to squeeze too much into one movie, the writing was bad, the acting was atrocious, AND the final fight is so anticlimactic, it's not even funny. And then they end it on a cliffhanger, like they really thought they'd make a third one after this.

Also it was told they changed a lot from the books in these movies. Especially with hades wanting to use the bolt to over throw Zeus and take over the world. In the books he doesn’t want that because he’s actually ok with ruling the underworld

In myth and books he is one of the chillest Olympians. What Hades wanted was his Helm back(his symbol of power) which was stolen to steal Zeus bolt.

Shohreh is such an incredible voice actress. She’s done so many things both behind the camera and in front of. Her voice is so distinct and has so much character to it. She’s the voice of the mother dragon in the new Millie Bobby Brown movie “Damsel” and another more recent voice role she had was the captain/Chief of the Piltover police in “Arcane”. She’s also in the expanse!

Shohreh Aghdashloo is the actress that voices the character. She has that raspy voice. She also voiced Gozer in Ghostbusters: Afterlife and my favorite role of her's is Dina Araz in 24 season 4. She also appeared in X-Men: The Last Stand where her character gets killed off by Ken Leung's character. Her character in the 3rd X-Men was Dr. Rao.

YES. Please react to the show. We need some Percy Jackson redemption for you guys 😂 The first movie wasn’t great but still a fun time, however this second one was just objectively horrible. So I agree wholeheartedly with how you both felt on the differences between the two movies. They felt like 2 different franchise beginners, rather than an introduction leading into a sequel. The show brings back the childhood wonder of the books and tonally matches them more accurately. So definitely go into the show knowing it’s more of a family oriented demographic, but 100% more faithful to the Percy Jackson story. I’m looking forward to seeing the struggles progress as Percy ages like in the book, rather than throwing all the different beats of emotion this film was trying to give you all at once.

While yes, the show has its flaws and made changes that I'm not the biggest fan of, they respected the books but also made it their own. somehow, the movies didn't know that the books were based on Greek mythology. When it came to the changes in the show, I mostly liked them because it was rooted in Greek mythology and adapted the rules and lore of the books. The movies just took cool elements from the books and cut out all the good stuff with no room for character or a good plot. They just thought it would be "epic." All that to say, with all its faults, the show is not only a better adaptation of the book than the movie was, but also just a better story than the movies in general

Definitely watch the show. It's million times better than the movie. It's not absolutely perfect, and they are still finding their way around things and what works and what not, but it is VERY CHARACTER ORIENTED. And I think that's all that matters after this horrendous experience lol. They changed like 90% of the plot for this one, and that was the first indication that it would bomb. But, on the bright side, you're going to go in the show using this movie as reference and I cant wait to see your reaction to how it all actually turns out.

There also is a part of the brain called the Hippocampus which essentaily makes the brain´s memory work the way it does (consolidation of new memories, short and long-term memry and spatial memory (so you don´t constantly colllide with your surroundings)), it´s called that because of the sea animal :D Hope this clears that up!!

2 things I wanna say: 1) Even though they are born from gods, there's no guarantee they'll inherent all the powers. That's why Tyson has little talent using water compared to Percy. His Cyclops half may also play a part in it but I dont remember, I havent touched the books in a while. Some Hermes children may be good at stealing but others are more proficient in negotiation and manipulation, getting an expensive item for dirt cheap. Some are common and standard to inherent and some are extremely rare depending on the god. So it's more a matter of how much was passed down to you from your godly parent as 2 kids with abilities from the same god may be night and day from one another. 2) The "zombies" that helped Clarrise are confederate soldiers from the civil war. When a war is waged its the side that loses that have to serve Ares and his children as punishment for their loss.

I'm really glad you're covering this, and I'm glad Tara is back and doing better! I'm also looking forward to you seeing the show! I'd love to see your reactions soon, though I'm willing to wait for closer to season 2, but either way, I'll definitely be watching! I think the biggest issue with the movies is how many changes were made to the story and the characters, and how upsetting that was to fans of the books, including my middle school self. I personally remember only a few things about this movie, because I think I blocked it out of my mind and haven't rewatched it in years, and I didn't even remember the Thalia opening. In my opinion, the issue with the movies is that the first one tried to do too much different from the book, and then the second tried to get things back on track and fix things by introducing people and elements that the first didn't include, like the Oracle, Mr. D/Dionysus, Clarisse, and Thalia, who were all important to the story at later points and should've been introduced already. Plus, there were things in the first movie that didn't come in until later, like the Hydra, which should have been in this one, and Persephone, who wasn't in the Underworld during the quest in the book. Then, they were probably feeling that they likely wouldn't get a third, so they tried to speed through the rest of the series by dealing with Kronos, but leaving things open for how the rest of the books played out just in case they were actually given the chance for a third or more, like setting up Thalia's resurrection. But by that point, things were already super different, and some things that had to be set up in this one took time away from things that were supposed to happen, and the rest of the series just wouldn't work, the fans were upset by what we were given in the first two, and the others never happened. I think after enough time passed, Disney+ came around, and both Rick and the fans became more open to the idea of a new adaptation, and we were able to get the show, which I am incredibly thankful for and happy about! I greatly enjoyed the first season, even with some changes to how the story played out, because they chose phenomenal actors who are genuinely fans of the book series and understand their characters, including Leah Sava Jeffries who plays Annabeth and just won the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Performance by a Youth (Series, Special, Television Movie or Limited-Series), and they gave us the story that Rick created in a more modern retelling, with plenty of foreshadowing and hints or references to things that will come in the future, and even new moments that really strengthen some of the characters and their relationships, which makes it very enjoyable as a book fan to see new things with the characters I have loved for more than a decade now. I agree with others that there are some issues, and I definitely want season 2 to have longer episodes, but I was amazingly pleased with what the first season showed us, and I cannot wait to see the next season, and hopefully every other season after that!

See in the book mist isn't like a spray, its just a thing. Humans cant see the mystical, so they can be staring at a Pegasus but can only see a plain horse. And in the books Tyson and Percy knew each other from school, and Tyson got picked on because he is a mentally challenged character. The shock of Tyson in the book was similar to Grover as "oh my, this person is actually part of my world, but in the movie there is no pre existing relationship for some reason

What's the most insane about this movie is that Tyson is the son of Poseidon, in fact ALL cyclops are the children of Poseidon. Which means the barrier makes no sense, because Annabeth hates cyclopes because they were the ones that killed Talia...but that means the cyclopes should be able to walk through the barrier as again, theyre the children of Poseidon.
