To avoid forcing a card, a marked deck can be used. The spectator then freely chooses the card and places it face down. Its value is read off the markings and the tricks can be done.

I did this tour last week in a restaurant for about 10 tables and every time it was much appreciated. I adapted the presentation a little: I pretended to be an apprentice mentalist. After the spectator has chosen a card, I try to guess the spectator's card, and I said I was going to make 2 or 3 card propositions. Once the 3 cards are out and shown to everyone (as in your video), I ask them to look at the chosen card and tell me if there's a link with the values of my 3 cards (e.g. by adding them together, etc.). Generally no, and then I ask them to reveal the card. I say “oh dear, but I've got another idea”. I then rub each of my cards against the chosen card and they transform one by one to match the chosen card.

Great effect! Something I tried:. When I spot a ten and more or less even up the cards I bring them up, backs to spectator and slide the odd card to the left using my thumb bringing cards down and dealing a ten. It's sort of culling the odd card. Does this make sense to you? I confuse myself sometimes?
