PERFECT AQUARIUM FISH For The Planted Tank TOP 5

A decade ago, I watched many of your videos on "dirted" tanks. My first reaction was "Oh my God, Aquarium Heresy! Herbert Axelrod is rolling over in his grave!" But I tried in anyway, in my 55g tank. For 10 years I had fabulous plant growth, excellent water quality, and lots of oohs and ahhhs from visitors. My plants grew so well that I always had enough to give away, sell to fish stores, and create new aquascapes in other tanks. I just tore that tank down a month ago because it needed to be moved to another room. I rinsed most of the "dirt" out of the substrate, and used that substrate in the new location. The clay and Fluorite in that substrate must be hold on to lots of nutrients and beneficial bacteria, because even though I did not add a dirt layer to the new setup, it is growing plants very well.

i have a 20 G tank with lots of guppies and tetras, lots of plants mainly anubias and hornwort. come of the leaves on the anubias are getting holes in them or white spots. do you know why and is that ok or shall i do something about it? they are all growing fine actually except for the tiny holes.

I’m actually feeling pretty good it’s a plant we hardly ever sell. I was about to bring in about 500 I’m certainly glad I didn’t. The easiest thing is just don’t put them out in a natural waterway

Congo tetras are freaking gorgeous, used to have a school of them with an electric blue acara centerpiece. Beautiful. I'd really like to try emperor tetras as well cause they're easy to breed as long as you have places for the fry to hide.

I keep (ancient 7 year old) diamond tetra's with my electric blue acara's. It's a pretty relaxed tank with jungle val, submerged sagittaria cristata, guppy grass, waterweed and some other plant which turns red at the top.. I'm a lucky fishkeeper. For anyone reading this! Congo tetra's are killers and will will all of it's own kind until there is only one true king left.

I like rasboras and danios. They don't eat plants and look good in schools. I had scissortail rasboras in my first aquarium when I was 10 years old and have them now at 70 years old.

@@Dustinsfishtanks I have long-finned zebra danios and they don't school. They just chase each other around. The giant danios do school and are attractive fish. Neither chases other fish or eat plants as far as I have observed.
