This is a very similar formula I follow! But your reminder of EQ not having any ATM withdrawal fees was something I completely forgot! Thank you this really locked in my financial card combo!

Thank you so much for this video! I just graduated school here in Toronto and I have been looking for an account to put my money into. I can't believe I have been holding all my money in a checking account at a big bank. Please keep up the great work. I'm sure you can grow into a big Canadian financial youtuber! Thanks!

* new player has joined * I saw news this week of EQ Bank’s new Notice Savings Account with an interesting quirk. You can select if you want a 10 or 30 day hold account where it will be on a time delayed release (4.5 and 5% interest respectively.

Love your videos …. I have 3 of them… except eq…i think when you have RBC , they have quite a few ATMs in almost every location
@lispmanfinance4 ай бұрын
Yeah thats true but just for those emergency purposes, I like to have access to all ATMs lol. And Eq Bank is free. So small price to pay for that convenience. Thank you for your support!

I like the idea of opening an account with RBC for emergencies but the only draw back is do I really need to use their terrible credit once every 3 month to keep the account? If that's the case, it's a hassle to remember to use it when you do most of your shopping with Roger's card. For bank drafts, you can technically do that with SImplii financial which can be an honourable mention.

Yeah I just get gas at Petro Canada once in a while. Their regular RBC Cashback Mastercard isn't too bad if you get gas there.

Triangle WE card allows us to pay bills similar to PC money and we get 1% Canadian tire money
@lispmanfinance4 ай бұрын
Yep but you can't pay credit card bills with Triangle WE. Probably the only thing you can't pay with Triangle WE

Great Analysis. I really enjoyed watching the combo solution that you have provided us. Have you tried withdrawing money from EQ bank card from outside of Canada ? I agree with you that moving money for promotional rates becomes tiring sometimes. Many Thanks. Always enjoy your humour.

I haven't withdrew from outside Canada yet. I almost always exclusively purchase via credit card. Though I think I should try lol. Probably wont be cheap

I can confirm withdrawing cash from ATMs outside of Canada is free using the EQ Bank card. Used it in Japan and Taiwan last year and they rebated the ATM fee. Also exchanged at daily fx rate.

Yup, they take $1600 from me every month.

Another thing Re PC Financial "Easy 5000 Points" This is only true IF you have 5 SEPARATE bills (credit card bill being just ONE) of more than $50 EVERY month, correct? I think this is more difficult for your audience than you think. For example if your phone bill is more than $50/mo you are kinda ripped off by your phone company so you gotta fix it BEFORE trying to optimize for PC reward points. Am I wrong?
@lispmanfinance4 ай бұрын
Yep! I guess for me its not that hard. Scotiabank momentum for recurring bills and credit card. Thats over 50 bucks. Triangle WE for utilities and taxes. Thats over 50 bucks. Rogers Mastercard for general purchases, thats over 50 bucks. Simplii for restaurants. Most of the time thats over 50 bucks. And a couple of other credit cards that has just over 50 bucks per month. But not everyone has 5 different credit cards they spend over 50 bucks per month so youre right

Can you describe a plausible emergency scenario where you need live customer service from RBC (limiting the service to the RBC account/card obviously) assuming you are using the other 3 options you mentioned? Is that something that happened to you personally or purely hypothetical?
@lispmanfinance4 ай бұрын
100% hypothetical. But you never know. I guess a bank draft for down payment or car payment might be the main reason. I don't think the other 3 has bank drafts.
@deersakamoto21674 ай бұрын
@@lispmanfinance Apparently you can get a bank draft with a fee by visiting their branch without having an account with them (in a rare case you need one). Just FYI
@randallnguyen74054 ай бұрын
For Bank Drafts, you can technically do that with Simplii Financial. RBC is fine on paper but I just really hate to use that awful credit card once every 3 months just to keep the account. I would rather not if possible to have one more thing on my list to remember to do. Plus, I have PHEV which I gas up like 2x a year which makes the 3c/L worthless to me.
