String taped to trunk or hood and hanging over fender with a weight tied to it will give something to measure off of with tape measure to get closer than eyeballing it. Friend showed me on my car and was almost perfect when we got it aligned.

That big wrap of wiring behind the wheel is the clock spring, FYI. It comes loose after you unscrew a few torx screws behind it, so you didn’t have to completely destroy it lmao

11:45 That is a "Spiral Cable" it is used for the wiring for the steering wheel controls (Audio, Cruise control, etc), used so that way when you turn the wheel, it doesn't rip apart the wires.

That is called a clock spring. It allows a constant electrical contact to the steering wheel and wheel mounted controls eg horn, call buttons,radio controls, paddle shifters ect while still being able to rotate the steering wheel. Hence why it was all coiled up. It's also an electrical ribbon and not wire and the whole assembly has a specific orientation or it wont work

@11:39 That's a clock spring, and it's the reason you can spin the wheel and maintain an electrical connection to the airbag. If you ever want to put your stock wheel back on, that piece needs to be kept in tact, or your airbag won't work.
