Flares are so sick ! I was watching back some older video last week and realized I’ve watched you over a year know and it’s been crazy how much your knowledge and push on sustainable fashion has affected me and the way I choose to buy. Picked up a Staats sweater, and can not wait for more to come, much love 🖤

I'm 45yrs old and all I wear is big bell jeans, they have to be atleast 12-13in across the bottoms. This is the 3rd time in my life flares have been instyle allowing me to purchase new made current bellbottoms jeans. In the middle years especially the 1980s and very early 90s we only had thrift which was so truly amazing till about 1996, and finally making my own. Make a whole pant or add a positive dart triangles. It blows my mind some of these current flare sellers who add a dart or two and charge 1000$ or so. Which is not cool in anyway. So rt on to you for your flare tutorials for MEN, women can buy flares from millions of places so they covered!

You should make a video which looks at Raf's explicit use/influence of music in his clothes (Kraftwerk, New Order and Joy Division to name a few) and perhaps more generally the relationship between music and fashion.

Thanks Avery for the tutorital! Your DIY videos are as inspiring as always! I also want to mention another way to make flares pants, by doing the opposite of this process. Simply get a looser fit pair of trousers then slim down the thigh area in a curve shape, If you don't know how to sew, just take it to a tailor. It's a simple process and doesn't cost much. That's how I made my pair of trousers inspired by the Inferno Flare (One of the most beautiful garment I've ever seen).

Recommendation for a nice video to make. Some info on the sustainable fabrics you used for staats both the previous and coming collection and maybe some hot spots for fashion students in new york. I’m going and I’d love to go visit the garment district but Where do I start and where do I get the fabrics. I’m really excited about all that’s coming and I hope Kailee and you are doing well. Also i’d love that pair of flared pants. Have a nice day Ave.

I've done this before but I usually use an old suit. I cut the panels from the two back panels of the suit jacket and use those in the trousers, that way they are an exact match. Also, suit trousers are a better material for movement. Failing a suit, you can just by two of the same pair of trousers and use one pair to make the panel with, that way they look factory made, naturally the more you make them the better they will be, don't pull tight when stitching them together as the fabric will buckle and pucker. It needs to be flat for a pro press, but trust me this will look store bought, even designer. I also chalk mark the panels to ensure perfect line up then just machine wash on the right heat after that.

I've been doing this since 2000, but you need to buy two pairs of the same trousers, use the front or back of one pair to make the panels, and on the inside the wider the panel the longer it has to be, so you can have any size of flare you like.

These are so sick! I'd love to get them, being 6'2" and skinny makes it difficult to find 30x34s. I think a few solid video ideas are "where to find end of season sales" (relevant to today), "how to edit/take fashion photos for instagram" (urs are sick), and "how to embroider clothing." Amazing work and much love!!
