I like the Rollback bumper and for this build goes well with the old rounded body style. I think what helped was the step down on each side wing of the bumper. Once the complete truck is together, I think you will love that bumper even more. If you have to be old school you can chrome the bumper.
@Alconium Жыл бұрын
I think some clever sheet metal work could cover the angular nature of the super duty bumper and make it work great with the old school charm if they care to mess with it. All things considered it doesnt look bad, but it clashes with the old smooth lines above it.
@CamObserver Жыл бұрын
@@Alconium It's a work truck and could see some rough times. Not sure how rounded would hold up in a work environment. Looks like they still have a square boom.
@Alconium Жыл бұрын
@@CamObserverYeah, I'm just saying if aesthetics factor in at all they could probably skin the bumper, but if function is the priority it's probably not worth it in the long run. But they might have fun with the fabrication.

I think that Super Duty bumper does fit very well. I can see why there's a bit of hesitation, as it's obviously very 'modern' looking on such a classic, but I honestly think it works. Lobed the segment in Grampa Shermans workshop. When you put the scene in of you both in there, you must have kicked up a bit of saw dust or something, as I definitely got something in my eye. You're a good man, just like he was Paul, and don't let anyone tell you different.

I'd think about welding in some structure to brace those fuel tank brackets. While I doubt they'd fall off, they will probably bend outwards and bring the tanks close to the ground once you've had 43 gallons/300 lbs of fuel (plus the weight of the tank and straps) bouncing and sloshing for a few miles.

@@brianbenedix4942 These mounts aren't engineered to any specific "government standards" - it's just a couple of C-channel sections welded to the top flange of the frame rail. I'm just wondering if that weld will permit the tanks to sag over time, as they aren't braced against that sort of loading.
