Someone said to boil water, take it off the heat, add a cup of cold water, and then add the egg and wait 15 minutes. Ofc idk if it’s foolproof and will give good onsen eggs :/ But that’s the easiest way I’ve seen someone do it

Hii! I’m Japanese and my dad is like a good chef anyway- He’s really good at making onsen tamago! So basically to cook with a pot I always saw my dad boiling the water and then he stops the fire and then he puts the egg and leaves it for 10 minutes! That’s all I know but after that you should put it in icy water or just cold water!

There’s plenty of awesome substitutions, I think it’s fabulous you’re noting the concept down & simply spin a vegetarian way on it would still be delicious!

I wanna learn how to make onsen eggs, I can only achieve soft boiled eggs but this onsen eggs looks so velvety
@Birdbike719
@Birdbike719 Жыл бұрын
What's the difference? Also looks like a poached egg?
@kalmage136
@kalmage136 Жыл бұрын
@@Birdbike719 poaching an egg will usually leave the yolk running if you take it out as soon as the whites cook. Which is the usual standard in the west. But onsen eggs cooks the whites, just okay until it’s semi-solid & not solid or soft-solid. It still has that bouncy-gelatinous like consistency, but not slimy anymore. Cause once you break it with the super velvety yolk, it literally becomes a rich cream-like sauce even & compliments whatever dish you’re having it with. It’s preferred to have this style of egg with a bowl so it can be mixed. While a poached egg will hold more shape for something outside of a bowl like an egg Benedict.

Why add msg? Like do u not make it with Awase Dashi. The whole point of using dashi is for natural Umami flavour. Does it need more enhancement? I think not.

Dude so many Asian dish uses onions and it’s literally one of the best thing to cook meat with. You have not eat actual good shi. Else if it’s just you that hate the taste of onions, then sure, don’t eat it. It’s not bad for others. Like how cheese is a common food added to a lot of dish but some people just don’t like the flavour of cheese.
