This is the best sponsored Bambu video I've seen. Not only with the practical application, but also not claiming that the sponsor is the best 3D printer ever to have existed while having little experience in the past. 3D printing has came a long way and Bambu has disrupted the market in such a way that almost all new printers are plug and play. Really curious on what you have in mind in the future! Also nice wording "the danish branded brick sizes", combining Lego with something of your own is risky haha. MakerWorld has banned the word as you might have discovered.

Seeing your proposal, here s a first improvement in mind: 2 colors : one is for big part, and one for small parts. Why ? because you can remove a ton of plastic of shapes that holds big parts, as they do not fall in 'small' holes. The color will be just there to remind you not to put small parts into open cases: a 5x5 or 8*8 mm grid on bottom will remove tons of plastics ... that helps print speed, the only real issue of this solution. You can even think about it on the sides ... or even remove sides ! as you have boxes agains boxes, 2 design, one with walls, one without (or really smalljuste to occupy space, avoiding others to move ) could improve the print speed by A LOT. Also, as you manage static legos inside, the smallest wall acceptable by the printer is the best choice, maybre only 2 or 3 passes only.
@waffling05 сағат бұрын
Saving plastic by making holes in the floors is good, but all the compartments need walls, since they double as individual baskets when you remove them
@iriondalcor2 сағат бұрын
@@waffling0 True! It could be possible for large parts maybe, as it is not mandatory to take the entire pack with you. For repetitive task, it is true that best is to avoid it as managing the box is easier than the parts. Let's say that both design could be printed and mixed , based on a necessary + personal habits. I don't know about bambu, but a case on prusa mk3 is 2 to 5 hours when full with some thickness. if you have 20 drawers, you will die before implementing your setup without optimised cases ..or multiple printers :)

09:06 3D printing is great and all but not cost effective for most people. I custom built my own solution for storage containers to fit into the IKEA units after you recommended the units in a previous vid! My custom containers are simply made using styrene sheets cut to size with a craft knife and solvent welded together, I would say they are as sturdy as your 3D prints are and significantly cheaper 🤷

I don't disagree with a lot of your points, but try to understand most of us don't have a LEGO studio. I only have 2 Alex drawers, because what I don't have is floor space. And IKEA raised the price on those drawers to $150. I can get 5-6 of those wall units for the same price. And I have way more wall space than floor. Plus, I don't have to spend an additional $300 for a printer, just to organize my drawers.....

I’ve always been very interested in a 3-D printer. How much filament and cost is involved with filling out one of the Alex drawers? It seems like it should be somewhat reasonable considering the customization that you’re able to get.

After these ones, I'm actually quite curious about the X1C! The form factor and the fact that it's supposed to be faster than these? Can you confirm?
@mgoblurg5 сағат бұрын
@@TiagoCatarino it's slightly faster due to the higher acceleration speeds. You'll see some faster print times, especially with larger objects but not an overwhelming difference. X1C can be better for taller, more delicate objects because it's not a bed slinger like the A1 with the print bed moving back and forth. X1C can also print a larger variety of exotic filament types. Overall the A1 is a much better value, but the X1C has a lot of "nice to haves" if money isn't an issue.

I also struggle with filling the Alex drawers and this was an incredibly useful video. One thing I might add - altough it s very nice of you to share your designs for free (and we thank you for that,) it would be completely fine to ask for a small price (1-5 €?).
