Reason I bought the Pro was the Philips machine was too cold for my liking. I measured my Phillips a few months ago at ~1.3 degrees C when it should have been 3 degrees. Had it as low as 1 deg C. Will do the same with the Pro. Have to say that these probe thermometers are not very accurate at low temperatures as mainly designed to test meat while cooking. Also think you should have poured a much bigger glass and held probe in centre of liquid not touching the sides.

You mentioned some good points & interested to know how you get on. I’m pleased with the PD so far. Pours a lovely pint & holds temperature better then the original. Thanks for watching & commenting, 👍🍻

The beer in the glass will always be a degree or so higher than in the machine as pouring into the glass will warm it up unless the glass is chilled. There is rumours of these Pro’s not being as accurate as they should be with temperature as a lot is people are struggling with them either going colder than 3c or when holding a higher temperature than 5c the temperature is higher than stated. I have two Philips machines and one is quite accurate but the other is a little out in terms of temperature, they are both within 1c-1.5c of each other but my older one is slightly closer to 3c than the newer one. Until all these issues are sorted out I’m quite happy with my Philips machines as they are pretty reliable & cheap to repair out of warranty, better the devil you know and all that. Joff 👍🍺

Thanks watching & commenting. I prefer the look of the classic machine. reliable and straight forward to use. 👍🍻

@@beerfantv just an update for you. I’ve recently purchased two pro machines and they really are a mixed bag in terms of temperature. The 1st one I purchased is up to 4c out after doing some investigating. It initially had a 1.5c variation on what the display said but after the latest firmware update (2.0.0) it’s up to 4c. I set the machine 5c and checked it as it seemed a little warmer, when checked it was pouring at 9.3c. today I removed the keg and reloaded it, set the machine to 2c and allowed it to cool. When it hit 2c in the front I checked the pour and it’s reading 6.8c and that’s supposed to be 2c. The bottom of the cabinet is 2.8c but the top (on top of the keg) is reading 9.8.c. Granted I’m using similar equipment to you but even so it seems like the new firmware update screwed the temperature sensors in some way as to go from a 1.5c variance to it now being over 4c is pretty poor. I’ve not checked my 2nd pro machine but it seems to be a little bit closer to the temperature on the front but it’s still over 2c out. I know the weather has changed and my kitchen is very cold due to having no heating on in there so I wonder if there is an external temperature sensor on these machines that could be messing up the algorithm used to cool and determine the temperature the keg as until the cold snap and the latest firmware update the machine was pretty accurate (within 1.5c which is the tolerance stated in the manual). Either way I’ll be monitoring it over the next few weeks/months and hopefully if there is an issue it’s fixed or I can get the machine replaced. All the best for the holidays and have a good one. Joff 👍🍺

I have the original Perfect Draft and love it to bits. Paid £200 for it off BeerHawk. I cannot justify the the £115 difference (including offers at current date). Cracking Vlog though everyone to there own.

Nice one. You done same with the original yet? Cheers.

Not yet! its packed to go back to BeerHawk. Thanks for watching and commenting

Have you checked whether the regular PerfectDraft is really getting it to three degrees Celsius with a thermometer too?

No, that’s a good idea.

I have, I did this a few months ago as was convinced the beer was too cold in the Philips machine. It was and instead of being 3 degrees it was 1.3 degrees.

Not a very scientific approach no calibrated thermometers you just chucked it in there also did u chill the glass to 5 degrees no so your results are all off I'm afraid

Not a mile out, to be fair. Just set the temperature manually a degree or two lower? Subbed. 😊

The pro is not a step forward at all. Massively expensive to run at £10 a month just to have switched on. Way too big and expensive.

It’s not for everyone and doesn’t have to on 24-7. Have got the Phillips version?

I also forgot to mention that they have just released the power save option on the pro, 👍

look you dont have to be trying to dump on something just because you aint got one lol. of course its a step forward. what a stupid thing to say
@TheSilvercue Жыл бұрын
@@davidferris-ss9rc it is not a step forwards if you don’t want to pay £10 a month just to have it switched on. The last one cost a fraction to run. The energy consumption is astronomical on this device.
@davidferris-ss9rc Жыл бұрын
@@TheSilvercue mine doesnt cost that. also id imagine it uses more power than the philips one because it has more powerful cooling. come the summer id rather have ice cold beer than save about £1 to £1.50 a week. £10 a month is literally nothing. also you could turn it off when you are not using it and put the keg in the fridge lol
