Күн бұрын

We finally arrive to the Chesapeake Bay, where we spend a summer perfecting our sailing. With flashbacks from our first times sailing together just a few short years ago, we have come a long way to understanding how to sail our Beneteau with more precision. Here, we perfect our asymmetrical spinnaker sailing, sail trim and twists, and sailing to a wind angle.

Love the educational and technical aspect of some of your videos. Particularly this one! Nice for us inexperienced sailors to feel like we know something now - lol.

It's great to see and hear how sailing is for you guys. Instructional videos can tend to be formal and off putting. This one was relaxed and that made it look a lot more like you were having fun. It's very encouraging for someone (me) about to embark on a sailing adventure. Keep up the great videos.

I enjoy the sailing instruction. I noticed that you adjusted the sail track to correct wind spilling out of the sail. I did not see that this increased the speed of the vessel. What I am trying to determine, is the effort equitable to a determinable increase in vassal speed?

When sailing close hauled you really need to get more tension on the mainsail outhaul to flatten the sail. I've sailed a couple of boats with in mast furling and I know it's difficult but it's doable.

Nice instructional on the asym. Is the anchor roller your mounting point for the furler?looks like it, and love the idea. Did you do anything to need it up, or was it made for that purpose?

Wo you guys need a bit a work on the main trim. The clew should be down on the boom, get a velcro clew strap, they're not expensive. Check with a sailmaker. The main should be much flatter upwind, the foot should be almost straight. Get leech telltales on the main.

Do you have a spinnaker pole trakc on the front of your mast? Maybe a ring there for a pole??? Having a good solid spinnaker pole will allow you to really move with that spinnaker other than reaching. Here is the video I recommend on learning to use a pole: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hquulqidmcenl8U&t
@TakeTheWaters
@TakeTheWaters 3 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately we don’t have the track for a spinnaker pole. We’d looove to have one, but looking for the right time to get one.
@allynonderdonk7577
@allynonderdonk7577 3 жыл бұрын
@@TakeTheWaters a lot of people find it intimidating to install a track on the mast. A lot of boats just have a sort of ring to which the pole attaches. The track has a bit more flexibility, but cost a bit more and is harder to install. The pole is also a cost...when or if you do get one get the heavier pole not the whisker style which is too light to handle sail loads effectively..I've even seen the bigger poles bent, but just about every lighter pole I've seen ends up in the trash not long after it's first use.
