I just started RBR a couple weeks ago myself. Really looking forward to seeing what you think. It's.... made it a bit hard to go back to other rally games

Yo one of the biggest game changers I had using the games for practice was matching gear ratios. It made thinking about corners in the game so much closer to what it is IRL. The stock rally gear set is enough that you can chuck a car in and just bang gears until you're in the power. You'll get much more out of the game if it's set to the same ratios. For DR2.0 you can go up the side of the jump in the dirt fish map to beach yourself. Then floor it to see what the top speed of each gear is

One thing I love about VR is that the FOV is already taken care of for you. You just need to position the in-game view correctly and thats it.

Great video! Love the idea that you are making every spec on the stim rig close to your own real rally car. The driving on the Dirt Rally 2 was amazing. Those pendulum turns were awesome. I want to suggest one thing, which is to take each stim rig driving experience as much as a real one. Since you are building muscle memory on the stim rig, you are also building your driving habits. Driving a used rally car with an actual person next to you probably has more things to consider than going full throttle on Dirt Rally 2. Things like watching the car's temperature and minding the RPM between gears, etc. Most importantly, in my opinion, is that the life of the co-driver is in your hands. I suggest aiming for safety and completeness first when driving on the stim rig. Maybe drive around 80% of your ability. Leave some room for mistakes. All the rally montages on KZbin have taught me that even a tiny mistake can be catastrophic. These are just my two cents. By no means am I trying to lecture you or anything. You are on a path that probably every rally fan dreams of. I truly enjoy watching your journey along the way. Wish you the best.

Got my first VR headset 2 weeks ago and it's still blowing my mind. Such a game-changer, being IN the car. And RBR is a different animal altogether. That'll be fun to watch.

Ou yeah. Doing sim rallying and others for a year or so mainly with VR only and now got 3 screens due well the heat over longer sessions with VR. Sadly none of the rally games support properly 3 screens compared to AC or etc.

@@RyansRoadToRallyyep if the point is training to drive a real car you have to drive RBR. So many of the things you do driving in DR2.0 if done in a real car will not work and you’ll wind up wrapped around a tree.

Hey, I would recommend you finding a custom steering gear with shorter ratio, it's better option because with quickener there are less forces on the wheel and it's harder to feel the road. Very nice video 😀

I Love your channel. Just a question though. How do you practice making pace notes? Shouldn't you also practice making it with a friend and practice with a real co driver? Just my thoughts. As a rally fan, this channel is one of the most entertaining to watch because you are living our dream 😅😅

Richard Burns Rally has a recce feature for making pace notes. And I guess any games that you can turn the co driver off, you can simply get a mate to read it instead

Very interesting video, especially for someone like me who has never been in a rally / sports car and doesnt have a reference for my sim rig. I was wondering if you could measure the angle of the pedal faces? As in the part of the pedal that your feet touch. I've inverted my pedals recently and would be interesting to compare. Thanks.
@JottaaHD5 сағат бұрын
Thank you for this video, extremely helpful for someone as me struggling with sim rig ergonomics even without using a bucket seat and using a seat from a real car! Just wondering which app did you use to measure the angles? Also, do you mind sharing all the measurements? some that I really struggle with is the pedals height I think because I don't have them inverted like a real car

I don't know much ab sim racing so perhaps this is an obvious thing - but in an actual car you aren't sat in the centre; you're sat to the left or right. Your setup seems to mimic this by shifting the viewport across your monitors, but then you end up with the dash bent across the centre and right monitor (for LHD). Is it not possible to mount the monitors to the right of the chair/ the chair to the left of the monitors so you are actually sat in that position? and then the viewport wouldn't be so warped? Anyway, I love the channel, and good luck with everything!

Wonder what issues you have with WRC. I know it's very much not running as well as a rally game should, but woth your PC it should be at least managable
@RyansRoadToRally11 сағат бұрын
Ya it’s been pretty finicky. The highest quality setting I can go without major screen tearing is medium across the board, with some things on the lowest setting. Even then, the game still locks up at least once per session. That’s with a 4080 Super and the newest i7.
@iamalbert0612 сағат бұрын

Haha I love how salty you are in my videos’ comment sections, but still keep coming back. You’re always welcome here! Listen, I started this channel to make videos that *I’d* want to see. Watching a decently made video of a long-time Dirt Rally 2 player *finally* trying RBR for the first time is exactly that. So I have chosen not to breeze over my first experience. As for me screwing up at my first real rally, I think that’s a give-in 😅

I really don't understand why you are so committed to have your real life car and the real life conditions emulated, but then use it to play a simcade game. Nothing against DR 2.0, it's a fantastic game and I put many hours into it as well, but for real life preparation, it is...unequipped to say the least. You will never emulate the complete real life experience in a sim, but games like Richard Burns Rally or BeamNG with good mods would be a lot more fitting for a detail freak like you. At least those are actual simulators and much closer to real life than DR or WRC games are. But I guess you said that you are on it and I hope your setup works for those as well. Would be shame if you had to measure everything again.
@fullmetalf4i10 сағат бұрын
Why would he have to measure everything again? The position of your equipment has nothing to do with what sim you're using, he literally set it up to match his car...
@DropkickNation10 сағат бұрын
@fullmetalf4i The POV is very different on different games.

It's because he is going the path of a casual sim rallye gamer and most casuals are playing WRC or Dirt Rallye. It took alot of time for me to get into RBR because its brutally hard and ugly (even with mods) compared to DR or WRC so i totally understand his point. But as he said he will try RBR 👌
