@@RyansRoadToRally I don't know if the video mentions it, I might have missed it, but how much does the car cost? Also follow-up question - is sim racing worth it? I'm a teenager trying to get into it and I'm looking at the market and it seems I could get a decent setup for like 250 euros give or take. By the way you look like a great family man. Props to you for finding balance between your hobbies and spending time with your family!

@@Artem1s_297 It is so worth it. I have a logitech g920 so not the best and I'm not really in the situation where I can upgrade but I have a 3d printer so I've been printing mods like an open wheel and GT3 wheel. There are sadly no carting tracks nearby and I'm not old enough to even have a car (can;t afford that either) so its a great alternative and isn't as expensive as other options.

When someone has a video of a dream car, it's typically something like a sports car, supercar, or some famous retro car based on famous media. Seeing someone get an actual rally car (almost barn find style) is very refreshing from car youtube.
@The_-_Futurist24Ай бұрын
Agreed. I have an 05 WRX and it was a dream car of mine. Ppl think 'tuner boi idiot' a lot when they think of WRX, but there's also the legion of WRC fans and Colin McRae fans who just grew up loving them cause of what they did off road :D
@kb43ver_king21 күн бұрын
Most people expect me to say something like a 'GT3 RS' or a 'McLaren 720s' when they ask me my dream car but I just want a restored '68 F250 Highboy for a daily and I'd probably get a '95 Miata MX-5 and tune it to be a drift car/daily track hybrid.

Brake boosters are pretty common to find in grassroots racing. Most drivers aren't comfortable/fit enough pressing hard on those brakes the whole stint. Your range of modulation to threshold braking is tightened and it requires a gentle application and release. Enjoying the series

Great choice 11K is nothing and you need AWD in Canada, since it is mainly gravel or snow races. It is easy to find Subaru parts and many good shops in BC ( i recommend Boost Barn in Langley) . In France my friends that race on Citroen Xsara and C4 WRC in Europe struggle a bit to find parts. Check for rust and undercoat the car ( Subarus rust like crazy), check if the car has a modified oil pick up to avoid oil starvation on corners. Don't bother repainting the car dents since you will crash it a lot LOL

I'm so happy that I found this series and really looking forward to follow your journey in to the greatest sport there is. I've been co-driving for 21 years, starting of with an untuned, all stock parts, Opel Manta from my parents garage. If you're gonna have anywhere near as much fun with this as I've had, you're in for the time of your life! There will be lots of ups and downs, but I have one very important advice for you: Always be well prepared on raceday. Have your car in good condition, prepared for the rally. Have your tools and spareparts prepared, the service crew needs to be prepared of what they are expected to do and you should get to know all the rules and regulations you need to follow, eg. when and where you need to be, what documentation needs to be filled out, licenses needed etc. Be well prepared and you will be able to enjoy the racedays alot more.

I hope to see you at tall pines this November! remember that this car is almost 30 years old. Bushings are going to make the biggest difference for speed, full rear end bushing resto, lock down kits, and transmission mounts are going to do a lot. Baffled oil pan and pickup are also going to prolong the longevity of the motor by a lot. Good luck!
@RyansRoadToRally14 күн бұрын
Solid recommendations, thanks! I hope to make the big drive east in a year or two, but for now, the budget is keeping us west.
@rustbucketsubaru14 күн бұрын
@ totally understandable! Remember that power is the last thing you want for a budget car, brakes and grip will do way more, and power is expensive and hard to maintain reliability. Good brake fluid, pads, and maybe stainless steel lines. Make sure all your brake lines are in good shape, they’re cheap and easy to fully replace on your own. Do an engine boost leak test with the smoke machines. Go under the car and make sure EVERY bolt is tight and torqued before and after every event. And if the budget allows you can look into upgrading some chassis stability (strut bars and underbody braces) as old subarus have very soft shells. But that’s really the last thing you can look at. Good luck dude! love the videos

personally, as someone that has only driven street cars. i would never want to drive a car without a brake booster. you still get pretty good feel, and you dont have to have body builder legs. i once had a toyota leven with the 4age black top engine. it was a nice car. but the idle control valve got clogged, it took me a while to diagnose it. while it was bad the idle was really low. low enough the brake booster barely worked. pushing that pedal was hard work, i almost reversed into a car leaving a parking lot because the brakes didnt work. i also have driven my current cur under no power while being towed. trying to push that brake pedal and not rear end the car towing me, or let the tow line get too slack. it destroyed my bad knee. ok. not destroyed, but it was sore afterwards, and very stressful while driving. yeah. im sure for pros in shape no brake booster works fine. but for me. brake booster all the way.
