As someone who played the original Baldur's Gate as a kid in '98 or '99 (can't really remember), I felt massive goosebumps when I saw that Sarevok's still alive and kickin' (same goes for Jaheira and Minsc). Btw, my original character actually got his alignment to switch to Chaotic Good, so I expected that he'd be able to change in BG3 as well, but had to kill him in this instance of the game as well. PS: BG1 Sarevok fight was 20x more challenging than this one, but he's not the "final boss" here after all.

I'm sort of glad they at least attempted to address how Sarevok was restored in ToB. It's a shame he turned evil again, since in my playthrough I was able to get his alignment to change in my playthrough. He was no longer worthy of leading and lost his status as a bhaalspawn, so he was pretty much starting over at the end of ToB. They could have made him anything, since the canon ward was good...

@@Adanu191 Same. I was pretty disappointed that Jim Cummings and Heidi Shannon didn't return to voice Minsc and Jaheira, although apparently Jim had scheduling conflicts and Heidi seems to have vanished off the face of the Earth, no one's been able to get in touch with her. (Jim Cummings came back for Siege of Dragonspear, but not Heidi.) Not a slight on the new VAs. They've mostly done a great job (the new Jaheira VA in particular I feels nails her accent and attitude very well), but the new Sarevok VA seems to lack Kevin Richardson's undertone of barely concealed rage and menace for his original performance.

Sigh, Larian did not need to do any of this, they already created compelling enough NPCs. He's not the main villain he's helping the player to fulfill their prophecy. he presented his divine sibling with a deal: If they gave up a part of their divine soul so that he may live again, he would offer information vital to resolving the Bhaalspawn crisis. In truth, Sarevok wished to travel alongside his brother. Despite his death he felt he still had some role to play in the fulfillment of Alaundo's prophecy.[4] His sibling appears to have accepted the deal, as Sarevok appeared again in Baldur's Gate more than a century later, during the Absolute crisis, as the head of the Murder Tribunal in the Temple of Bhaal. The cult of Bhaal in Baldur's Gate was by this point led by his granddaughter Orin the Red, the Chosen of Bhaal.

Yes, but it feels like the canon ward they chose was the best of the best good character. Some of the characters still being evil, Viconia and Sarevok , seems off. They should have been redeemed due to the established canon character they used. Note you can spare Viconia in bg3 by knocking her out and talking to her. She spills everything and you can chose to finish her or leave her so she can find redemption, again. Shame you can't do that with Sarevok.
