I love YSL and whatever they did with the Y EDP formula. They need to do the same with the rest of Yves saint Laurent fragrances cuz the one is a complete beast! It last all day on my skin 8+ hours. Love Y EDP

I bought half a bottle of this off someone online and I love it but yeah it doesn't last... I'd 100% pay an extra $20-$30 for a much longer last fragrance. Crank up the performance on this thing and YSL L'HOMME as well and I'm shelling out money for both because they're both awesome fragrances.

I have no issues with paying an extra £20 odd for a fragrance to last much longer, that’s why I pay for the fragrance in the first place, I just simply believe a fragrance should be great, long lasting and give good silage. On my skin, this particular fragrance lasted all day on me. I didn’t go heavy with the sprays & nor did I spray on my clothes.. but the last time I wore it it was a lot cooler weather so maybe that could’ve been a factor? I’ll wear it again tomorrow and see what the difference is in warmer weather 👍🏼 Thanks again for the great review Aaron, brilliant as always mate 👍🏼

I picked up 2 bottles but It's discontinued already after just a few months.....it's so strange and nobody knows why! They just pulled it off the shelves with no explanation. I heard a rumor that a ton of people were complaining about the longevity and that it was too similar to the original LA Nuit de L'homme which it Is but there are enough differences to make it a solid release. It does not last too long on me maybe 3 hours and I can't even smell it anymore unless I do about 30 sprays!

any weak fragrances you buy and you're thinking of using lotion, then just get the gift set with the aftershave balm. 👍🏾 LNDL, DnG the one EDP seem fine to me when I use it with the balm. 🤷🏾‍♂️ the balm is more or less free in the gift box, if you lucky you might even get it a few quid cheaper then just the fragrance alone.

As someone who’s been a heroin addict for over 30 years, I’m not sure what you mean by a narcotic quality. I remember chasing the dragon when I was in high school in the eighties with China white number four. It smelt and tasted like Coca Cola, sarsaparilla and chocolate. I’ve also done this with brown sugar and it’s very similar. When you iv you get a chem taste. It’s like Kit Kat and coke. I even remember the days when you could belt, Oxycodone,oxymorphone, hydrocodone and the delicious hydromorphone. All very similar I also put ylang ylang essential oil on my skin and can not see how it could be described as narcotic.

Doubt it, if anything it would probably be weaker because if the issue is ingredients one solve is changing formulation.... As happy as I would be to see it re released I'd have to re sample the new batch before jumping in with both feet I don't trust corporate capitalism in the slightest it's only about the $$ to them

I absolutely would pay more for longevity. If something is weak and only lasts a few hours you wind up spraying more sprays when you apply and you than have to reapply later which would probably cost you more in the long run.

Just get Ferragamo F Black! To me it's virtually the same , a little more spicy though and maybe not as smooth. However, it projects and lasts a lot longer and costs £25!!

This does have better longevity than the original LNDL, but not so much that it cancels out my overall preference for the original. I’d prefer to just spray heavy and spray clothes with the original.

Late and post discontinuation opinion: yes, I would pay more for more longevity. I have very long lasting fragrances and they were at the same time more expensive but way cheaper. Tom Ford IS cheap, it lasts forever and four puffs are sometimes too much.

I blind bought this after watching a lot of reviewers state it had a great long lasting smell which drew lots of compliments. I love the smell, however, long lasting? No! Compliment grabber? No! AFA i am concerned, it THINK Bleu Electrique has been discontinued because of Raw Materials shortage. Ash from Gents Cents has been 'collaborating/advising' certain company for some new frags, but the company is unable to give him all those samples because of Raw Materials shortage. That kind of explains why a lot of frags recently have been really hard to obtain. For example, GUERLAIN L'homme lines, PRADA L'homme lines, ROCHAS Moustache, etc. As for paying extra for extra longevity, based on my current working environment,.. no.

La nuit de lhomme was the fragrance that got me into it so many years ago. No joke, I’d b willing to pay creed prices for that exact scent but with excellent performance. There’s nothing really like it that I’ve found, and the performance has only gotten worse and the scent has lost its luster over the years

It lasts around 12 hrs on my skin.. and I only sprayed once. was there a reformulation before it was discontinued ? Ps I wouldn’t mind spending an extra 10 or 20 however I also wouldn’t mind if something doesn’t last, I can spray a lot and it would last. That’s my personal experience and opinions though. For example for my D&G the one edp I spray two or three times on one spot and it’s still there after 7 hrs.

No Not at all! Carbon is complex and have a top note of Bergamot and Ylang. its really complex. I personally wouldnt put out Iso e super or Ambroxan on its own!

There’s nothing worse than smelling a fragrance that totally captivates you from the moment you spray it on….only to have it completely disappear 3 hours later. I have a bottle of YSL LNDL from 2009 and yes, Bleu Electrique smells very similar to the classic LNDL….like, 95% the same. But…BUT…it fades away so quick. No, not nose-blind fade….actually vanishing from my skin. Complete let-down for me.

I am pretty new to the fragrance world, however i think its really caught my attention. I just think its a beautiful artform. I can imagine someone not wanting a fragrance to project a lot, but i dont think anyone actually wants a fragrance to last 3h at most. The minimum a fragrance should last is 6 to 8 hours, but you should be able to still smell it on you, not like a skin scent, but rather on your personal bubble, leaving sillage and people still being able to smell you

No question about it, I would absolutely pay another 10-20 pounds to get a properly long lasting fragrance. There is nothing more infuriating than spending good money on a fragrance that fails prematurely, and it ends up being more expensive, because you run through a bottle so quickly.

For me it's not even the runing through a bottle but the fact that you can't really utilize the fragrance the way you wanted to... I intend for people to still perceive it in the afternoon or evening when I put on fragrance in the morning but that doesn't always happen... I feel silly sneaking into the restrooms during the day to reapply, that's not relaxed at all...

I'm totally baffled as to why this was discontinued. The most hyped and well-received flanker of any fragrance in years. I also wonder why even this flanker doesn't perform amazing. Can Dominique Ropion really not do it? Did executives at YSL prevent him from making something that performs? L’Oréal acquired YSL a while back and they’ve been discontinuing a lot of fragrances presumably because they weren’t performing well at retail. This has also been the case with Mugler, Armani, and Prada. Fragrances that are beloved in the community are not necessarily given any attention by the average consumer. There was also the issue that, at one point, you would go to a fragrance counter and the YSL section was absolutely loaded with flankers. It was overkill.

The L’homme/La Nuit line has continued to have an annual new flanker every year under L’Oreal. I don’t think L’Oreal considers the flanker overload a bad thing business-wise. Quite the opposite, I think they’re discontinuing so many of the old ones so they can continue releasing a new one each year.

Arron I think longevity is the second most important thing these days, first being of course great smell. That's why I instantly bought your 'Tabac' and 'Forbidden'. I think they are your beefiest most robust fragrances, the sillage for forbidden is crazy, I got so many compliments from it. I think people truly miss great, long lasting fragrances and not some kinda pissy water that disappears after 2 hours. Keep creating man!

I'd spent a few more dollars to get monstrous longevity. I'm not keen on the idea of applying moisturizer to boost the longevity. At the end of the day I want to invest on a fragrance that is worth your money. Spending hundreds that last for a few hours puts me off, no matter how good the fragrance is. I absolutely love Bleu Electrique though but I won't invest in a bottle unless YSL improved on it. Such a shame that it has been discontinued.

I love that Aaron has become more comfortable in front of the camera, more comfortable expressing himself and translating what's going on in his head to us, the viewer. At first, I could relate very well bc I don't know much about the art/science of perfumery, just that I love perfume. But now, the aesthetic is much more warm and inviting...not just cold and scientific. Well done Aaron, thank you! I also love this scent. I was a little miffed when I first smelled it bc it smelled too much like the original to warrant all the hype for me. But the more I wore it, the more differences I picked out. They are subtle, but there are differences. But I think the biggest thing is, this was YSL's answer to LNDL being much maligned for poor performance. I'm ok with that, I'll definitely wear this over the current formulation of the original, I just wish it wasn't discontinued

YSL! Please bring this one back in the future. I personally fell in love with this instantly in a local Macy’s in the wake of the limbo of nobody really knowing when it would return in stock anywhere. I begged the girls at Macy’s to please let me pay the full retail for the tester bottle, yes I was that desperate to get it but they had to respectfully decline. I got about 6-7 hours with 2 sprays on my inner elbow, and I was totally enamored by the scent. I don’t typically go for the top selling fragrances, and I don’t care if they’re niche or designer. I love what I love regardless of status of the house. All I’m saying is, I really hope it comes back in the future. A man can dream.

The price v longevity concept is an interesting one. If you spend $80aud on a fragrance that you have to spray x6 + and then reapply, or a $180aud fragrance that you spray x3, which fragrance becomes the better value?🤔

This and Frozen Cologne are without a doubt the best Alternatives to the beloved OG La Nuit. Both are a fresher Take of the Classic, and more wearable in the Summer, especially Frozen Cologne. Layering Ambroxan or ISO E Super in isolated form would be a way to boost the performance a bit. But still it's probably not going to be a Club Banger, it's the perfect Date Night Out scent tho.

This! I would choose to wear Bleu electrique to work and I work hard doing alot of manual labor and heavy lifting this caused alot of heat and sweat, all this led me to be afraid the fragrances would be too much but I actually got more compliments on hotter days, Bleu Electrique is a champion in the heat!

YSL has a bit of a history of weird decisions with discontinuations and Bleu electrique was really discontinued for american markets afaik because about 6months after discontinuation rumors my friend got a bottle for me at a duty free in athens for about 40 euro for 60ml. I am very greedy with my use due to this. Afaik canada still gets it. My method is doing the jeremy fragrance 5 spray method and then 2 light sprays of pdm layton to get some of that heliotrope and it WORKS.

I would pay the extra money for better performance. There are several scents that I love the scent profile of but don't bother owning because it's not even going to get me 6 hours. 8-10 hours is generally a good benchmark in my opinion. I work 12 hour shift and I want something that will atleast stick with me the majority of my day, especially since we can not spray anything at work. Getting 10+ hours is perfect even if it's an intimate scent bubble. I actually think YSL's Tuxedo has the perfect balance in performance. Not too loud but not too soft

Got this today and it is a beautiful fragrance. I got 10 hours on my skin. Projected really well for 4-almost 5 hours. It got faint at about the 9 hour mark but I can still smell it when I put my nose close to where I sprayed.

I could be wrong but it is my understanding that the context surrounding its discontinuation was that it was released during one of the peeks of the COVID supply chain crisis, so, as you know as a business owner, that complicated things and I think they just felt it was safer to halt production completely. Take that all with a grain of salt, but that’s the best explanation for why they would discontinue it almost immediately after its release.

I would pay more for better longevity, especially for fragrances like LNDL / LNDL Bleu Electrique (two of my fav frags ever). Great video, Aaron!

Yes it is discontinued after only 1 year but I don't know why. I have them and love them!!

I don't seem to have performance issues with this one like others have been having. I get through a whole work day with 4 sprays and can still smell it when I wake up in the morning 🤷‍♂️

Nice tips Aaron, thanks. I have Bleu Electrique and bought a back up bottle as it is being discontinued. I love it, its sweet sexy top class perfumery, but it does disappear on my very quickly. Why oh why do these houses release perfumes with weak longevity??

Honestly, 1h isn't anything... I wouldn't buy anything that would be gone in less than 4h. If the scent is good, a price increase of 10-20 pounds would be fine! If 50mL of that was 60-70 pounds and it lasted 6h-8h, it would be worth the money

This is definitely a scent you would want to put on moisturized skin first. On dry skin, this lasts me maybe 4 hours. On moisturized skin, 10 hours later it was still going strong.

Grandpa smell, dense, thick, overwhelming honey type smell. Like the obese but quiet version of Eros. Once it sits for 4 hours, the smell becomes fantastic though. But you have to sniff it out of your skin.
