2:22 "no weather sealing, of course" - I really wish third-party lenses would get on that. Fuji has a wonderful range of WR lenses that make it incredibly difficult to justify buying these "artisanal" non-WR lenses (likewise for Voigtlander et. al.).

Great review mate. I couldn't affford an X100V (with all the crazy prices at the time) so I purchased a used XT-20 and use this on it as an everyday carry. I can happily say this form factor is even smaller than the X100V and I love it! It comes with me everywhere and looks so cute! This is a superb lens for the money and the size is amazing!

Good video as always. I'm a fan of the 7artisans 25 -1.8. Similar price and size. like the look and colours of the pictures. Who needs a overhyped vintage lens when you can have a cheap lens with the same flaws.

Nice review! Looks like a fun lens to play with for not much money 😊 I’ve been having a brilliant time recently with the TTArtisan 25mm F2 for Fuji X mount, which you can get for similar money - absolute bargain! No funky bag with it though so the Pergear does have that going for it.

Oo yes that 25mm is a very nice little lens!

Are the markings printed or engraved? I remember being surprised about the old Meike 25mm f1.8 having (slightly) engraved markings.

Seems like a fine version of what it is. Clicked aperture ring is nice. There's a lot of decent options out there. That said, I've just moved on from the cheap manual focus lenses. Lenses like the TTArtisan 27/2.8, the Viltrox and TTArtisan 56mm f/1.7 or 1.8, have really brought the cost of autofocus for Fuji. It used to be just the XC 35.

Something for everybody that's for sure. Looks like third party, let's say lower budget, autofocus gear is progressing well now.

Well certainly a good review of an interesting little lens. Is there an official lens hood available from Pergear for this lenes, even if it has to be purchased as an option?

I think it only comes with the lens... maybe :D

Hi D 🙂 What's your take on modern manual focus lenses vs adapting older legacy ones? there are some really cheap, and great quality older lenses out there with adapters to fit pretty much everything to anything. be nice to see a review from you of, say, an old Nikkor or Canon

Good call! I do need to get back on the adapted lenses theme! I think it's just as fun as it was ten years ago, albeit prices have changed. New tech with IBIS and resolution, to a lesser degree, makes them extra fun now.

I have one and while I tend to shy away from non-native glass, this is a pretty decent little lens for the $59 USD (mine came with a hood). IQ is surprisingly good for a non-native lens at a low price point. The fact that I can sneak this lens on my X-E3 and X-Pro 3 in venues where photography is treated with some suspicion (museums, restaurants etc...) with no one batting an eye pays for itself. I don't use it on a daily basis but when I want to be as stealthy as possible, this comes through in a pinch.

Ah you got the hood... so unfair :D This on the E3 sounds perfect! Though I want the E5 to come with IBIS now.

Hi I use Fujifilm xt20 and 16_50mm. I am careful to take most of my photos with 50mm. Can you recommend an alternative portrait lens lens that is closest to the Fujifilm xf 50mm f2 among 3-sided lenses for x mount? thanks..

May appeal to some, however with the excellent Fuji 27.8 (& maybe Viltrox 27mm), this one doesn't appeal and , tbh, prefer the 27mm to 25mm with the 1.5 apsc crop factor.

i think that the "character" is not deleiberate but as a result of cheap manufacturing process. But who cares! It produces interesting images, where as with inexpensive vintage lens you need to shlep an adapator , plus there is the the possibilty of oil on the blades, fungus, etc. On the fuji xe or a sony a6700, it's perfec size. The thing is, that whoever buys this lens,, must like that oldster look.

I would like to see some quality third party prime (and zoom) lenses from Sigma, Tamron for the X- mount, not just a flood of cheapo chinese stuff which have boatloads of compromises. X- mount has become a garbage dump for chinese (almost-) noname brands.
