I love how this song seems to devolve into chaos. The start sounds easygoing, lots of It's Only Smiles vibes. By the end, a Meshuggah-esque Wildfire has taken over. Its an awesome progression, really,

The Meshuggah vibes are definitely strong. It especially reminds me of They Move Below. Helps that the aforementioned also uses AI art to produce its visuals.

I had the same reaction until about the 4th or 5th time I listened to this song. After I more familiar with it, it honestly feels like a masterpiece. I can’t explain it in any other way than a masterpiece.

According to Spencer, the video is all real footage with real actors with AI overlaid on top of it. It took a month to make I felt the same way as you on first listen but after multiple listens, this is probably my favorite single now

This one really grew on me too. Like you, I felt a bit overwhelmed on first listen, but I love it now. I guess it just goes to show the master craftsmanship of the guys in Periphery/Perpihery/Pureriffery/Pirifry/Perishy ( however you choose to say it ;P )

Periphi? Perry pie? Peripi? Idk yet I've made it to the end of the video lolol This song is good. Gives me Satellites vibes from their last album. Between the busic video and the music, I was too distracted to pay fuller attention to both because both are very captivating. Wether it was the lyrics, guitar and bass, drums or the visual audio, all are enchanting yet clashing. Which is what I think they were going for in this art piece here. Imma listen to the song on Spotify to give the actual song a better rating than I will with the video/song. Song/video rating based off my theory: 9.5 Song: 8 Video: 9 Cannot wait to hear this song in context to the rest of the album

I would say listen to it without the video. While the video is interesting on its own it's verify distracting and has a tendency to partition the song as it moves between its themes. I love this as its neat and poppy at the beginning and slowly works its way towards more dissonance and bonkers at the end. One of their more progressive songs for sure without relying on random jazz interludes haha

After watching the video on my first listen, and then listening to the song without the video, I feel like the video takes away from the actual song, even though the AI is kinda cool, I prefer the song by itself

Think this is my favorite of the singles. The music video...I think I'm not as big of a fan only because Linkin Park's music video just came out. I think in the context of the "Lost" lyrics, I loved they got artist to actually create anime art, gathered prior music video/concert videos and then used the AI to combine the two. It also very much fits Linkin Park's "ascetic". This music video just didn't have the same personal touch, which is why I don't think the AI art works for me in this one.

I suppose my main issue with this song is that I don't vibe with the hook all that much. I could see past the disjointedness if I liked the hook a bit more, but alas, I don't as of now.

I'm still annoyed at the use of AI, just because the core issue of how they train using other people's art doesn't seem to be addressed here. As its own thing I like the video, it leans into the uncanny valley really effectively, but I ultimately don't like supporting the use of AI art while it works in the way it does. The song however is an absolute banger for me, personally I think it's the best one yet. Though I do agree it takes a couple of listens to truly appreciate it.

Another reacter did a vid with Spencer Sotelo, the singer, and he explained that all the footage was filmed specifically for this video. They used the all the footage and hired a company using an experime tal AI, not available to the public, to superimpose it all together. Something like that anyways The channel is Chris Liepe or something like that, if you want to here about it more in depth

This is not a good song. It doesn't have any flow to it at all, the different textures of the musical sections contrast in a bad way, and some of the virtuosity on display in the song feels like it exists in a vacuum without respect to being a part of a cohesive song. Progressive rock and metal encourage trying new variations and pushing the boundaries, but sometimes in doing so, you don't create something that holds together. Pink Floyd's Ummagumma is an extreme example, but a good example. It has its cult following, but we all know there's many Pink Floyd albums that are much better. I'm a huge Periphery fan and they've only ever released a few songs that I don't like, but this is one of them. I applaud them for trying and taking a swing, but this was a swing and a miss.
