Im 1000% with misha on not being original. I dont think its as important as everyone thinks it is. Just make the best thing you can make. Saying something is lesser just because its not innovative or totally origjnal is just ridiculous to me. That sort of thing doesnt define quality. This sort of thing exists in music, games, movies, etc. Innovative doesnt always mean better Plus a lot of the time, the most original things are iterated upon over and over again for years until they reach a pinnacle, that sometimes makes the original thing look like it only scratched the surface IMO, thats what periphery is. They arent totally original, they "rip off" Meshuggah, metalcore, Nobuo Uematsu, etc. But personally id rather listen to them than any of their sources of inspiration
