Last song on Alpha: "Strip away all the empathetic feeling towards a world that has grown absent of all my love. Sadistic aura!" Last song on Omega: "Take in my breath and lock eyes with a world once absent of your love. Majestic aura!" Coincidence? I call it amazing, spectacular, flawless concept album duality right there..

they've always been like this when composing, listen to Marumasa, Ragnarok, and Mesamune, from PII then The Bad Thing from Omega lol.....the same concept and vocal hook repeats in all four tunes, and then if you watch the end of the Scarlet video from like 4 years ago you will see them walk past a guy in the giant mustard bottle that turns and looks at them walk by, it's the guy from the Alpha Video, who at the end you see ascend to a giant mustard bottle, then you see him looking out a window and turn around to look at something behind him in the very last scene of the video. This is right before the hot dog dinner chaos begins of course ;) when all their non EP albums after the self titled 10 years from now turn out to be one single long Album, i told you so. P.S. Look up what a C.A.F.O. is, and then watch that animals as leaders video again, and then notice the subject of that video is a 3d bison on it's way to the slaughterhouse...just a bit of Prog Tricia there for you ;)

First song on Alpha: "Embrace the feeling of our human skin." Penultimate song on Omega: "Embrace the feeling of a soul within." Same melody, only the meter is changed. That's my favorite lyrical nuance.

OFFICIAL LYRICS: Silence is bringing on the heart-attack Pushing and pulling going on within my brain It says to lay low Dead end The darkness latches on Now I am a product of a mind that wasn't ever mine and now it says "Kill them slow" Weighed down I'm drowning in this stale moment Renown is yelling at me from above This is a one way road Kill them slow Long ago I was forced to drink Now I long for a taste of what stains the murder in red Straight back to the moment of a distant memory Strip away all the empathetic feeling towards a world that has grown absent of all my love Sadistic aura Dead end The darkness latches on Now I am a product of a mind that wasn't ever mine and now it says "Kill them slow" Weighed down I'm drowning in this stale moment Renown is yelling at me from above This is a one way road Kill them slow Stop fucking pulling Will you release your grip and let go? I've got a life to live and a lot to end I'll hang 'em up Leave a bloody mess all around Bow my head then calmly walk away Kill them slow!

anyone else get this really eerie vibe of this song structure? like it doesn't even feel like an actual song, it feels more like a situation rather than a piece of music. it feels like it doesn't have a structures at all, it may come from the fact that it's slower than most periphery pieces and that they continually use the same rhythm and go with it for awhile, and it's heavily melodic, and when they chant "kill them slow" it feels almost absent of sanity
@RideRM1313

4:46 is the perfect example of a concept that I can never put into words. You ever hear a song that just sounds exactly right? Like every note is exactly the note it's supposed to be and it sounds at exactly the time that it's supposed to sound? It's the difference between "sounding good" and "sounding correct." It almost feels like the song has always existed and somebody finally discovered it and recorded it for us to hear. Every time 4:46 starts, it just makes me think " This sounds exactly the way it's supposed to"
@Vallnerik
@Vallnerik 4 жыл бұрын
Exactly. Most bands and musicians achieve this rarely if ever. Periphery has this rare ability to compose interludes or bridges that completely redefine the composition while inside of it. The section of Ragnarok at 2:21 is like this.

I think it would be amazing to see a movie based on the story for these albums, but with no dialog. Just the story being acted out on screen as the albums play through from the top of Alpha to the end of Omega and the end of the movie could perfectly loop around to the beginning like these 2 albums do. The perfect audio/visual experience. I feel like this would be an INSANE story to actually see, and that way we would know exactly what the intentions of the lyrics are. Anyone?

*Great Album! 5/5 :) \m/* *My reactions:* A Black Minute: Wow, this is a beautiful song! Mk Ultra: This was unexpectedly heavy... Heavy Heart: A bit pop-ish, but still good The Event: Hmm... really calm, I guess it's a filler The Scourge (first listen): eh... it's a bit boring, too melodic The Scourge (tenth listen): Holy crap I love this song! (puts it on repeat) Alpha: I like, I can still hear Periphery in there 22 Faces: Whoa, this is awesome djent, sick signing and guitar solos! Rainbow Gravity: One of the best so far! More melodic/heavy than most others... Four Lights: It's kind of interesting... Psychosphere: (guitar riff kicks in) This is giving me goosebumps!!! Hell yeah!!!

Excellent track. Cool album too, still about 90% undigested, but I can tell I'm gonna like it.
