Last song on Alpha: "Strip away all the empathetic feeling towards a world that has grown absent of all my love. Sadistic aura!" Last song on Omega: "Take in my breath and lock eyes with a world once absent of your love. Majestic aura!" Coincidence? I call it amazing, spectacular, flawless concept album duality right there..
@mopheadthe3rd8 жыл бұрын
they've always been like this when composing, listen to Marumasa, Ragnarok, and Mesamune, from PII then The Bad Thing from Omega lol.....the same concept and vocal hook repeats in all four tunes, and then if you watch the end of the Scarlet video from like 4 years ago you will see them walk past a guy in the giant mustard bottle that turns and looks at them walk by, it's the guy from the Alpha Video, who at the end you see ascend to a giant mustard bottle, then you see him looking out a window and turn around to look at something behind him in the very last scene of the video. This is right before the hot dog dinner chaos begins of course ;) when all their non EP albums after the self titled 10 years from now turn out to be one single long Album, i told you so. P.S. Look up what a C.A.F.O. is, and then watch that animals as leaders video again, and then notice the subject of that video is a 3d bison on it's way to the slaughterhouse...just a bit of Prog Tricia there for you ;)
@SaltpeterTaffy3 жыл бұрын
First song on Alpha: "Embrace the feeling of our human skin." Penultimate song on Omega: "Embrace the feeling of a soul within." Same melody, only the meter is changed. That's my favorite lyrical nuance.

anyone else get this really eerie vibe of this song structure? like it doesn't even feel like an actual song, it feels more like a situation rather than a piece of music. it feels like it doesn't have a structures at all, it may come from the fact that it's slower than most periphery pieces and that they continually use the same rhythm and go with it for awhile, and it's heavily melodic, and when they chant "kill them slow" it feels almost absent of sanity
@RideRM13138 жыл бұрын
dude, fuck yeah. I get the vibe that the "kill them slow" is an exterior voice to a crazy person or something

4:46 is the perfect example of a concept that I can never put into words. You ever hear a song that just sounds exactly right? Like every note is exactly the note it's supposed to be and it sounds at exactly the time that it's supposed to sound? It's the difference between "sounding good" and "sounding correct." It almost feels like the song has always existed and somebody finally discovered it and recorded it for us to hear. Every time 4:46 starts, it just makes me think " This sounds exactly the way it's supposed to"
@Vallnerik5 жыл бұрын
Exactly. Most bands and musicians achieve this rarely if ever. Periphery has this rare ability to compose interludes or bridges that completely redefine the composition while inside of it. The section of Ragnarok at 2:21 is like this.

I think it would be amazing to see a movie based on the story for these albums, but with no dialog. Just the story being acted out on screen as the albums play through from the top of Alpha to the end of Omega and the end of the movie could perfectly loop around to the beginning like these 2 albums do. The perfect audio/visual experience. I feel like this would be an INSANE story to actually see, and that way we would know exactly what the intentions of the lyrics are. Anyone?
