I have two questions. Am so much thankful if they are answered with right sights and reference on grounds of shastra and free will of a soul as well. 1) Why a girl child is not given bhramo upadesam? Dont give answers like - thats what sastra says - women can chant LSahasranama - the mantras are not suitable for biology of a girl. Nothing is convincing As Gayatri herself is embodiment of femine energy. How can a femine energy stops a female from performing her japa? 2) Samshti poonal is it abest way or not?

I would give my opinions for each question like this: 1. Why Girls are not given Brahmobadesam ( or Upanayam) had already been discussed in one of previous episodes(14&15) There is nothing like mantras not suitable for their biology or like that. No Shruti text says women cannot recite Vedhas or Lalitha /Vishnu Sahasaranamam. Some smiritis might say but smritis were written for particular period by particular people ( and that is why there are so many smiritis with contradictory advices). In fact some mantras were given by women in Vedhas. In ancient and medieval eras, texts such as Harita Dharmasutras, Asvalayana Grhya Sutra and Yama smriti suggest women could begin Vedic studies after Upanayana. There are many women like Gargi, Maitreyi , Lopamudra who had all these like men and became brahmavadhinis. But as with the time there were many changes in the practices. Men require vigorous practice of Vedhas and scripture ( after Upanayam until death or they become Sanyasi) which will consume their entire time. If women also start doing like men ( following nitya karmas) who will take care of the family. So exemptions might have been given for women from this Vedic responsibility and convinced that helping husband in doing his nitya karmas itself enough for them to attain moksham. But as usual some people twisted this and made strict rules for women( same way for Sudras also) that they are forbidden to do this and that etc.,. Now also if a single daughter or daughters want to do final rites for parents ( in the absence of biological brothers ) they can very well do. One example can be given. Regarding the black thread ( அறை ஞாண் கயிறு)wearing system, both male and female babies would be initiated but only male child continued this as they have to wear கோமணம் which girls/ women don't continue to wear so they leave out the thread as the girl child grows. But nowadays everybody wears elastic vest/ jatti so the requirement of அரைஞாண் கயிறு is gone but many men still wear( with some illogical scientific explanations). Nowadays women like Nandhini Bhowmick, Maheshwari are officiating in Vedic rituals ( if males can be called வாத்யார் these women priests can be called as வாத்யாரம்மா). 2. Upanayam is a ritual not function . It can be conducted in a simple way . Only 5 vaadhyaars and parents and the boy is enough. In that way samashti Poonool is nearest to simplicity. It is similar to mass marriage ceremonies. Single stage and mutiple marriage in same முகூர்த்தம். But since a function is social occasion and a chance to meet friends and relatives , it cannot be blamed also. ( For that matter marriages also could be conducted in simple way without calling anybody. Only parents, bride and groom and priest are required for Vedic marriage. For registered marriage or Tamil marriage even priest also not required.,,)

I had not seen a family atleast in my present birth where a girl child is given preference for Vedic rituals and a boy child is groomed for taking family. According to me both are divine. Unfortunately the society is not trained in this attitude. Thanks to the new women group that you have mentioned brahmavadhinis ..I shall Google about them. Thank u!

​​​​@@chandrikasivakumar the last 100 years ( especially last 20 years) ,our society has changed fo much. Technically and socially.. Because of single child families many of the boys learn taking care of household from young age same way girls take up jobs and share family's financial burdens. In any society, however modern, home is under women's care only. (Even being shown in some Hollywood movies like if a group of men and women stranded in a forest , men would go for collecting materials for cooking and women only do the cooking. It might look stereotype but that is the universal practice).. Irrespective of who takes care of the family, training a Brahmin( atleast) girl in Vedic rituals ( fit to do nitya karma or become வாத்யாரம்மா) is uncommon . There are many changes happening. In some programmes girls openly declare that they are ready to take househusbands( as opposite to housewife) so that that husband only needs to take care of their home. This may not be accepted by old people but slowly it might become normal. Same way training girls in Vedic rituals might become normal in future. You could start with your daughter ( or future daughter if unmarried) so that others might follow. Regarding Brahmavadhinis, there won't be much historical records available. ( Our history records starts from Asoka period only. For history before that one has to rely on Vedic, Puranic writings whose genuinity is very difficult to prove). At the end of Vedic civilisation , concept of Brahman( omipotent, omnipresent God) was proposed ( probably to counter other religions like Budhdhism) . While Vedic religion is full of rituals and fire sacrifice , this Brahman concept ( as mentioned in Upanishads) talks only about a formless power ( or taking any form) which became focul point of discussion in courts of many kings ( Janaka,Ajathasatru etc ,). In those courts women also argue with men and because of that they were called Brahmavadhinis. But there are no records avalable whether they were trained in Vedic rituals( after Upanayam) and then became Brahmavadhini or directly Brahmavadhini( it is not necessary to know Vedic rituals to know about Brahmam). Also whether they had normal family life or followed celibacy is also not clear. But one thing was sure that women were allowed in these discussions without gender bias( or these Brahmavadhinis were not considered as women😊)..
