Thanks @tmoss7122! I started moving in furniture on 3/22 - actually passed Jamie and crew on the Cardinal Coffee road in my car with it and two trucks loaded down with my furniture. I got moved in a week ago, 3/28, which allowed me to wake up for my first morning coffee in my place on my birthday! I have now been in my home for 1 week. So much still to do to get to the comfy cozy stage. I am slow because I take a medication that has side effects of fatigue and brain fog (breast cancer diagnosis 18 months after my husband’s death- thankful to be cancer free for 25 months now!) and then with all the packing and moving I aggravated a hip impingement and arthritis in the other knee - aging isn’t always an easy thing 😅. Trying to give myself space and grace to get it done without causing more damage!

I have to say I love that you covered these hard time consuming finicky projects like the screens and especially the coverage on the oven process. I think one of the most positive outcomes from that is that you encourage professionalism and attention to detail to the bitter end and in the areas that you would rather avoid and therefore rush. This encourages me to take the time and cost to do the same.

For my benefit from my perspective for sure because Erik’s vision is different! Grateful I was invited to be involved as much as I was. On our first call Jaime said I could throw on a tool belt and bang away. Since that’s not my skill set I did what I could to help - from clearing the land, hauling blocks and cement for the foundation, painting said foundation interior, being asked to help lift the first wall, too many site cleans ups to count, sent to get materials so the guys could keep doing the real work to running to get coffee that subscribers gifted to baking snacks and making lunches. I did what I could to have some sweat equity in my home and understand in detail the ins and outs of the build of my home. So grateful for the extraordinary opportunity to hang out with longtime friends in PBB and crew! Heart full homeowner now living the dream in my home that was designed (architect Tim Mason) and built by PBB and crew - the home built of/by/for community!

Stapling screen never works. The wind will eventually rip it. I’ve ripped grooves down each face of the frame and used window spline to stretch it tight. The table saw blade and the window spline used were roughly the same diameter so the fit was tight. Cap it with trim and it’s held tight for for years. Easy to repair as well.

I've really enjoyed this build and will be sad when it's finished. But I can't let what I've just seen go without saying something, which is. That area underneith the veranda where your subcontractors are erecting the shiney mettal sheeting. We call that corrugated iron or poor man's roofing. What springs to mind is the London blitz in 1940-1941. It was used not only as a way of fencing areas off after the war that had been bombed out but used to build the 'Anderson Shelters' and they didn't last. Another use, which is more recent and not so picturesque, is a pig sty. A home for pigs usually seen by the dozens in fields for pigs to shelter in. I also remember seeing it used throughout Australia on home roofs, sheep, and cattle pens when i spent a month travelling there in the 90s. Then there are the slums of South Africa where they use it to build their homes. As seen on TV. When I think of all the practical uses, however, off putting and unattractive as it seems. What I did not invisage was seeing it in situ on that lovely ladies' beautiful home. What have you done to her, to that lovely house. What on earth possessed you guys to go with corrugated iron? Are you Nutts? Had that been my home, I would have stopped sheet two from going up immediately and demanded that sheet one be taken down. I would much rather see that green board than a corrugated siding, even if it is shiney, which won't last long, trust me. It never lasts long. I know because a neighbour of mine had some put up just before Christmas, and it's already gone rusty because the galvanising covering was either too thin or not put on properly. I'm just saying.🫣🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

I was at the right place at the right time to get the oven. Never could have afforded it otherwis. $500 for $7000 plus floor model was an awesome deal!
