They have a Pro kit that is available in white or black. Also it brings accessories to cut the wire and joint again in a weather protected manner. Also the power supply in the Pro kit is 3 Amp, so you could easily go up to 200 feet. Btw cutting the wires on the lights you already have is not an issue, its a simple 3 wire setup. As of this writing the Pro kit is not on Govee website, but it will be.

I used some painters tape and taped off the lights themselves and just spray painted the white cord. I ended up being able to color match perfectly so even during the day you can’t see the wires unless you’re REALLY looking and know what you’re looking for.

You can absolutely cut and spice these, you just need to use weather proof butt connectors and make sure your connections are sealed. They tell you that they don't recommend it because they won't warranty any DIY work that you do on them which is reasonable. Just be sure to stay under the recommended length or you may have power drop and control signal loss. The chances of these lengths being exactly the lengths that you need are incredibly small.

Great video man! I've been watching videos all day and you basically brought up all the concerns I had as well. I'd much rather have the Pro version but it's not available on Govee or Amazon at the moment. Maybe I'll wait a little while since we already paid someone to hang our old lights to see if the Pro comes available soon. I'll definitely be looking to get these installed before next year though. To think that these lights would pay for themselves in one Christmas season rather than paying someone every year to hang crappy ones, just makes too much sense not to do. All the demos I've watched today look amazing, yours included. Appreciate the video man!

I agree you can cut these and I did on mine but I dont suggest it since a lot of folks who would be doing something like this prob dont splice wire and if you mess these up you kill the strip. I dont want to be that guy that made someone burn $500. lol I do agree with you though and I know you can paint them you just shouldnt have to at this price. Luckily the pros come in black now so now you have an option.

I'm considering these lights but I could totally build my own. I just need the LEDs that are controlled by an app and make the rest up along the way. When it comes to customization you have to do it yourself anyway. Not every home is the same and these will do the job but not be the best fit for every home. Great review.

They probably don't sell them or didn't at the time because they are ordered from China and their orders only consisted of what you received. I'm willing to bet, they will start offering the extensions if they get enough people who want them. Also, they most likely put in large orders of each product. Maybe 1000 units at a time. They can negotiate with the manufacturer for orders, color changes, extensions etc. But again, they won't put in orders if minimal people want them.

So there is some wiggle room here but the lights themselves is what I meant. If you had for example 200ft worth of lights and tried to connect that last 50 to the same power supply the last 50 would affect them all reducing the brightness and creating a flicker. You can def extend your 150 on a single power supply making the total distance including extensions more then 150ft

Great video. Govee is really dropping the ball with these lights. The pro version is great in that you can cut them but why should I have to spend more money for that? Same thing with the color wire. Then the extensions. They want it DIY but it really isn’t DIY unless you have a 50, 100, or 150 foot continuous run of a roofline. These lights would make my life a lot easier but I’m still deciding how involved I want to get or if I’m going to ship them back.

Understand this fully. I will say this though I cut mine and painted the wires all before the pro version came out and I dont feel like upgrading is worth it. If you put some extra time in and cut the old ones and paint them to match your roof you only need to do it once for days of entertainment. I turn my lights on for football games, parties, holidays, etc. but it took some time to complete everything.

I initially bought the 100 foot govee permanent outdoor light thinking i can just do the front and some on the side. Well they work great but now the wife wants to cover the other side of rhw house with a additional 50 ft. What do i need to do to make this 100 ft able to light up an additional 50 ft.

Honestly it should work off the one power supply if you connect the new 50 to the end of the 100 run. If you have to connect them separately though you can group them in the app to make life easier.

you can string them together up to 150ft. After that you risk power drop off and flickering

Yea I'm well aware of using a esp board or another board for custom lights. Power injection is still a thing with custom lights if you want max brightness and a lot of people aren't comfortable with doing it themselves.

@@aztecghost9058 do you know if you can use both 12’ jumper wires together to jump a 24’ gap? The 150’ kit comes with 2 of them and I’m wondering if those can be used together to jump a 24’ gap. Might be a better kit to add more to my house.

@@HughsReviews yea you can as long as you dont go past the 150 ft total . If you do you will need to inject power somewhere down the string but you can def combine two extensions then start the next string of lights

Definitely agree they need to come in different colors to match roof line & blend in with soffits. Have you any information on if you take them down to move them for any reason will the adhesive be no good anymore? Thanks!
@aztecghost9058
@aztecghost9058 9 ай бұрын
The new version now comes in black and makes splicing a bit easier. Unfortunately though if you move them it does take away some of the adhesive bond but they provide extra 3m so you could move a few and add additional adhesive. Ill say this though dont depend on the 3m alone to keep them on your roof. Make sure you add a secure clip every 2 lights min to keep them from coming down over time.

Great video. Thank you for your comments and insight. Im at the point in my life I cant keep climbing on our roof to put up lights. This is a great solution. Does anyone have any experience with putting these up on vinyl siding? Our eves have vinyl siding and not sure how well the 3M stickers will adhere to it.

I would say no matter what you're sticking these on you will end up having to reinforce them with clips but the 3m will stick to vinyl.

The app lets you calibrate it based on what is connected so if you dont use a strand its not a big deal. If you have to cut the end off for some reason though Id just make sure you understand what youre doing or you could mess up your strand and potentially expose it to water when it rains or snows

I really like the extended lengths of these lights, and Govee products in general, but I really wish I could just find extended strip lights with all the scenes/functions that Govee provides. I'm kind of not sold on the little dead triangle spots between each light, as I'd prefer a more 'Tron-like' continuity with my lights ( Do they still make the Phantasy PRO?) , Any suggestions would be great. House looks great though, and great video. Thanks!
@aztecghost9058
@aztecghost9058 Жыл бұрын
Yea they still make the Phantasy outdoor lights. I didn't go with them because of distance I'd have to run mine plus if you're going to do string led I'd suggest doing it custom with WLED. My other issue with LED string lights is you really want them in a channel and that doubles the job time imo.

Hello sir, at 9:25 in your video you go to a clip of your house where the lights appear to be much more concentrated and in a solid strip. In other parts of the video it appears each light is 6-12" apart. Was this a different set of lights installed or can you explain why it looked different in that clip?

Sorry if its been asked already. My roof line is also pretty complex and I will need about 250' and habe to work outward 2 directions from the center of my home. Will I be able to synch them properly as I will essentially have 2 strands going in opposite directions. Thanks

@aztecghost9058 9 ай бұрын
So most of the scenes are fluid and move around a lot so it will look more like designed then like 2 separate strands. The app will let you group them meaning you can change them at the same time but as far as a true sync where it combines the two and makes one design across both strands no

The ones behind me are the M1s from Govee and besides 16.4ft being 99 bucks I wouldnt recommend them on your house. You could do the Phantasy pro lights govee has they are just a straight strip or you could DIY your home lights. DIY can get pricey depending on what gear you already have or dont.
