Really enjoyed your video. We have done a few test ourselves and found out that when trying to spot light the Y-split, it doesn’t respond independently. You have just proved that. Keep up the great work. 🤝

@angelofdeath3563 Probably wired incorrectly. They need to have the correct three wires connected to each other AND the signal needs to be in the correct direction. You may have the string reversed and it won’t work.

Hello Sir, I’m very happy I saw this video because I’m about to purchase 2 of the pro kits, and the ideal thing for me to do would be to add a Y split in one of the lines, so this video clarifies that you can do that with everything in the kit, so thank you! My only request to be and I know this is one of your older videos and you’re probably busy creating content, but I would love to see a video of what you actually did using the kit to create the split. I know it looks pretty obvious, but I think it would help myself in a lot of people if you actually showed us what you did. I know you explained this on a very high-level in this video, but I would love seeing what you actually did because that will probably clear things up for me and others. You would make a fan out of me immediately, and I think it would help a lot of people if you did. Thank you and I hope to see that video!

You’ve got it easy with the Pros because the wires are color coded. Regardless of where you cut, just make sure to connect the same colors together. It’s also very important to keep the data flowing in the right direction. Data flows on the yellow wire from the controller through every light. The lights won’t work if you reverse them.

Maybe try to do a power injection somewhere near 75% region, I did several 10’ jumps with 200’ pro kit and had no problems so maybe you just need a couple amps boost.

Sounds like an ideal use case for the roof in 0:10, as long as you space the lights on the shorter length closer together. The lights would change in sync above and below that window.

great video. I just ordered my pro 200 since there is a phenomenal Mothers Day sale this weekend. When using the Y's, are they already made with one female and the two males for the y or did you have to modify the splitter? I havent received mine yet so dont know how it looks stock out of the box. Also what is your recommendation for a 3 ft deadspot where I need to backtrack. I am thinking of using butt connectors and 20g wire to add like a 4ft blank run. Thanks for your help

Hi, I m prepared to split my pro, but are you saying that if we split the wires, you can't connect a 2nd strand? Strand A split to B,C and D,E,F for example? And in the app, you chose 4 strands. Will that work?

@adil933 7 ай бұрын
Thanks for this great video! What happens in this example: A splits in B and C. B has 10 pixels, C has 20 Sequence is set to jump 1 at a time as you have shown in your video. After it gets to # 10 (end of B), what happens? - B goes dark while C continues to 11, 12, 13. When C comes back to 10, B starts again - B bounces back to 9, 8 7 while C continues to 11, 12, 13 - B and C bounce back to 9, 8, 7 and C 11, 12, 13 stay dark

@@handydadtvthis was my next question. Glad you answered this already How is this technically permanent though? Is it because the direction of the connectors? Is the connectors the only thing that determines electrical flow through the strands? I would think just splice in a different connector and be on your way?
@handydadtv
@handydadtv 10 ай бұрын
@PMPerformance I wouldn’t splice unless you absolutely have to, but you don’t need a connector at all. You can cut and splice the wires and use solderless waterproof connectors. You just need to make sure to connect the same wires together. The one with the tiny stripe is ground. The middle is data. The other side is +36V. Mixing them up could ruin your lights.

This could work in specific situations, like maybe have your dormers follow larger gable peaks, etc. Assuming your lines working in parallel have the same number of pucks, they could "chase" and then return to the line not running in parallel. Could be an effective technique.

Thank you for all the info you have put out on this product. I have a question, I plan on putting a “command center” style panel to have power, ac adapters, controllers all in one spot) in my attic to control my Govee lights and the fish the wire through the soffit to begin installing the lights. I only plan to install lights on the front (54.5’) and back of the house (42’) with no lights on the sides. I have a Pro 100’ kit and purchased an extra AC Adapter and controller off of eBay. My plan is to have run the front and back off of separate power and controllers. In order to centrally locate the command center I need to extend the wire out of the controller by about 30’ - 40’. That would make the back light length be about 92’ max. Do you think that will work? Thanks

I was thinking of splitting the signals at the beginning of the run and run 3 sets below and 4 sets up top. Wait can you do female and female too?

Be careful not to reverse strings. The data needs to flow in the right direction or the string won’t work.

@@handydadtv I'm sorry my dilemma is that I have the "Hot" which is my male ( Y ) connecting to two females. Will it work?

I’ve looked at so many kinds that I don’t remember which is which. If the end of the string is male, you can make a wye with a female and two males. If the end of the string is female, you can make a wye with a male and two females.

Interesting , but NO. I see no need to have two strands doing exact same thing. MAYYYYYBE if you had a LARGE home and put them on opposite sides of house or a barn etc. That’s a MAYBE at best. I’ll follow directions and try not to customize anything in setup. Good video.

I agree. It could be more work to do, but wiring end to end is the better option.

I just bought the 150ft set of the original Govee permanent outdoor lights off Amazon for 299.99. They should be here Tomorrow. Now I’ll have to figure out how to put them up around my trailer lol

If you split the line immediately out of the controller, say on the corner of your house, and go in two different directions, each of those branches will do the same effects. Always.

That’s not true. Each individual light is numbered. All you have to do is go to the DIY section of the app and you can customize it exactly how you want it. They will never do the exact same thing, unless you programmed to do the exact same thing.
@handydadtv

Sorry but you’re wrong. The lights are not numbered. They just consume one byte from the data string and send the rest down the line. If you split the data, the lights on both sides of the split are cloned.
