Nobody else online has shown this that I could find, so here’s how to do this the right way. It took me about an hour and a half start to finish, since this was my first time disassembling the dash in this car. Hopefully this helps some other folks out there like me! You’ll need some basic tools (needle nose pliers, 10mm and 12mm ratchet, flathead and philips screwdrivers, a soldering iron for removing the LED - or use the pliers if you’re a barbarian lol, and ideally a plastic trim tool for prying panels gently).
Here’s the video I used showing the disassembly of that dash, which was super helpful!

Reply with comments if you need extra help and I’ll do my best to respond. I do not have experience doing this on any other model so I can only speak to the process for a second gen Prius.
