If a cortisone shot is necessary, would it generally be given in the foot or somewhere around the peronial tendons?

Mri shows i have this but shows its mild. Ive had pain there over 2 years. How can i have pain if its mild? I have really high arches. I use custom orthotics. Ive tried a boot, but it just makes the other foot hurt. Ive heard not all insurance covers shock wave?

Very helpful. I am in the middle of discovering a peroneal longus tendon rupture and learning how to treat it. I'm on my 4th foot doc; many failed diagnoses; finally an MRI that showed a complete peroneal longus tendon tear. Current doc says it is inoperable & that because my arch is naturally high, I don't need the longus tendon. I am super active (running & tennis) but my right foot has significant discomfort.... enough to discourage activity. So... the tendon is torn. I will see this doc again this week for more insight. Thoughts????

Consider finding someone who does shockwave!

My tendon that is connected to the bone on the outside of your foot. My tendon was to strong and broke the bone it was attached to. The tendon was still attached in the same place. However I believe the tendon became detached and now the ankle hurts around my ankle. Could there be away to attach it?

I have both a torn peroneal brevis and peroneal longus tendon in my left ankle...they have already been repaired once and my ankle surgeon is telling me there is not enough tendon remaining to do any further repairs. He has mentioned as a possible next procedure removing both peroneal tendons and either leaving them out all together or possibly replacing them with cadaver tendons. What in your opinion would be the result of removing these tendons with regard to my walking normally?? Will I lose all stability in that ankle?? I am also in Massachusetts. Thanks!!

My peroneal tendon seemingly pops on over the fibula part of the ankle if I run for a long time or do calf raises. Repeated movement starts building a sort of pressure, which eventually leads to it. It doesn't feel painful, but rather just unpleasant, unless I repeatedly dislocate it in a session. This has been with me for about 5 years or longer. That was when I started long distance running, but I may have had it before (unsure). Is this genetic, or caused by an injury? I don't remember of anything catastrophic happening to my ankles. I've wanted to get into long distance running and weighted calf raises again, but I feel hesitant since I don't want this condition to worsen in any way. Should I be concerned? And is there a way of treatment for this that doesn't involve surgeries.

Sounds like you need to see a doctor sorry I can't treat over the internet.

I wish my doctor knew half of what you knew. All he has done is waste my time in recovery. I have a split tear of the perineal brevis on my right foot. And tendonosis of the same tendon on my left foot.

Did you figure it out? I was in a bad car wreck in February.... I locked my leg on the break and it took all the impact. It's been 12 weeks of walking around in pain, pt only makes it worse, and last week they finally gave me an MRI. I have a tear on my brevis. I'm waiting to hear from the specialist now. Nervous for sure.

@@sampatanza yeah after a bunch of PT it helped strengthen my muscle. I got a PRP injection which helped heal it but I felt better when staying moving. Today I’m very active runner and it doesn’t bother me but I still do all of my PT exercises. It took a while before I got back to running but it’s worth it. I actually just got done with a 4 mile run now.

Does a peroneal tendon tear always require surgery?
@DrPelto3 жыл бұрын
No you can do Amnio, shockwave, walking boot and other treatments first
