Janes has been dead since 1991. It's telling that even though they've limped on for 33 years, they only play songs they wrote in the 80s. There is no ongoing creativity, no evolution. They are fossils. They should have gone out with dignity when the inspiration died...way back in 1990-fuckin-1.

How cool is it that Dan Rather, the guy we grow up getting the news from is now interviewing all of our beloved Rockstars lol
@prophetofthesingularity3 ай бұрын
Aside from everything he did with Jane's Addiction he created Lollapalooza in 1991 and it is still going strong after 33 years. Regardless of where he is at now he paved the way for many other bands by creating this show that gave many other bands early exposure. I was at the 93 show and mostly went to see Tool who at that time had recently released Undertow but had grown a following with their first EP Opiate which was all I had heard and still think it is one of their best releases. They were on a side stage when I saw them and they followed a guy juggling chainsaws (not sure if they were responsible for that but it seems like something that would have been their idea). Later in the same year they got moved to the main stage which is where they belonged and who knows where they would have gone without that early exposure. He is at least aware of his issues based on his recent statements. All the partying and drugs he did that can really make a person lose a lot of impulse control and have anger issues on top of their addictions and many times drugs and alcohol abuse will leave permanent effects. This is between him and the band and he might never be able to fully recover from his drug days even if he wants to.
@michelebella6773 ай бұрын
The juggling chainsaws guy was part of an act called "The Jim Rose Circus Sideshow" they opened for a few bands during that time. I saw them open for Janes in 01 and Nine Inch Nails in 1995.

Sadly, I think Perry's massive and long drug addiction affected his brain to where he's not as strong mentally as he would be had he stayed sober all those years or at least only drank responsibly. Hopefully bassist Eric Avery's sucker punches to Perry's stomach at Jane's Addiction's final concert at Boston will be a wake up call. I don't think Jane's will reunite again unless they are inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Definitely wasn’t a wake up call because his wife has already gone to the media explaining the band had made him angry first. The band was playing too loud for him to be heard and that’s their excuse for getting angry and violent. When you have a spouse, family, or friends for an enabler(s), you never get a wake up call. You don’t take accountability and you don’t take the hard but worth it road of true change. This guy has a lot of severe problems and he hasn’t changed any of them, nor will he. The band should run from this guy because he’ll only keep bringing them down with him. I’m sure the rest of the band has their own problems too, especially if they’re going to reunite with someone like this.

The band are reported to have been "almost done" with making their first studio album with the original lineup since 1990. They had better not leave all that on the cutting room floor--if they're going to break up and therefore not go back into the studio to finish it, they could at the very least release whatever they have completed up until now, whether it's 3 songs or 6 songs or 9 songs or what-have-you, just make it an EP if you must! It would be a cool way to bring it all back full circle and present their fans with a parting goodbye gift, rather than leave it at the very ugly dissolution we witnessed a few days ago.

The power of daily brisk walking would totally change this guy’s physicality, his countenance, his mind and then quite possibly his life.
@Theforgetfullrabbit3 ай бұрын
Huh .
@bruceangel44593 ай бұрын
@@Theforgetfullrabbit, huh…yes, the power of daily brisk walking absolutely works! Just do it… For the mathematical benefits that’ll payoff like compounding interest. Here’s how: I’m 63 years old and like most people, I rode in cars most of my life until I figured out the power of daily brisk walking. This is quite possibly the best information that you’re going to receive in this lifetime, I call it the power of daily brisk walking. And if it does what I say it will do, you will share it with your family, friends and loved ones until the end of time or the end of your family line, whichever comes first. We humans were meant to walk everyday and to feel our optimal best we have to walk briskly everyday. Practicing the art of daily brisk walking will change your physicality, your countenance, your mind and then quite possibly your life. When this works for you, share it with your family, friends and loved ones if you want to catch a glimmer of what they were like when they were young because the power of daily brisk walking will age you in reverse. Prove it to yourself. Here’s how: Take a selfie before you begin this process, then walk briskly everyday for the mathematical benefits that will payoff like compounding interest. After some time has passed, take another selfie. The difference should be easily discernible and readily apparent in your changing physicality and happier countenance. If you stick with it you’re going to look sharper, feel sharper and actually be sharper than you’ve been in some time. (No dieting or weightlifting is required) When you walk: Open your eyes slightly wider and walk at a brisk pace, making sure to swing both of your arms while using your eyes for things both near and far & having as much fun as possible. (It’s an eye exercise and brain training stimulator) At some point you’re going to feel as if your eyesight is improving and you’re aging in reverse. Ask Ai/Google about “brisk walking and telomeres”, lengthening your telomeres will have you feeling like you’re aging in reverse. You’re going to be happier, healthier and sharper if you stick with it. That’s it, it really is that simple. We humans were meant to feel alive, healthy, happy, vibrant and vital all of our lives as we age. If you practice the art of daily brisk walking you will experience all of these things. And unlike other activities this one, barring illness or injury is sustainable for the rest of your life. Why does this work more effectively than almost anything else at helping you achieve your goals? Because we were designed/evolved and adapted over millions of years to do this one thing very well. Animals in the wild walk from shortly after birth until death in a never ending search for food and water or to escape predators. We humans eschew walking and ride in air conditioned comfort to air conditioned food stores and air conditioned gyms to walk slowly or stand around. It’s only been since the last hundred plus years and the invention of the automobile that we’ve forgotten that we’re supposed to walk and walk briskly. The invention of the cellphone has only exacerbated this issue. If we want to feel and be our optimal best we have to thoroughly mix the chemicals in our brains and bodies everyday, we have to walk and we have to walk briskly. (If you’re unaccustomed to walking briskly, fear not, just take it slow and these are large muscles will adapt quickly) The leading cause of injury in adults is unintentional falls. *Practicing the art of daily brisk walking will improve your balance, mobility, agility and coordination making falls less likely.* Plus, this is sustainable for the rest of your life and a guaranteed mood booster. Extras: Make an AC/DC greatest hits playlist, push play and just try to keep up. (This is a great brisk pace) Dress lightly or you’ll overheat, feel sick and quit. I wear baselayer, synthetic in warm weather and wool in cooler weather. No jacket is required until approximately 10 degrees. When you walk seven days a week for years you’re going to experience every kind of weather. Something I’ve learned is that we humans have an amazing capacity to heat ourselves up quickly when we’re on the move and the rain, snow and cold will have little effect. Think about our caveman ancestors in skins, no underwear & no jackets and boy are we lucky and you’ll be warm and toasty. If you’re cold, just walk faster! (You’ll be amazed at how quickly you’ll adapt) You’re going to sweat a lot, so stay well hydrated and drink before you get thirsty. Get an Apple Watch and close your rings daily, it’s cheaper than a trainer or a gym and it will keep you disciplined and on track. Good luck to you and remember, *Open your eyes slightly wider and use them for looking at things both near and far and swinging both of your arms, remember to think happy thoughts when you walk briskly and have as much fun as possible to achieve the maximum benefits.* PS- This is everything that I’ve learned in eight years from practicing the art of daily brisk walking distilled down to its essence to make it as easy as possible with the best outcome. This works, prove it to yourself by aging in reverse, remember to walk everyday for the mathematical benefits. PSS- As always, check with a medical professional before beginning any program of exercise.

Wish I were able to see the whole interview. Don’t have AXS. Perry deserves a lot of credit. There’s a lot of good mixed with the bad. Guy came from literal nothing. That life clearly took a toll on him. Hopefully he can sort himself out and be the artist that I know is still in there somewhere.

Perry seems to be having a good time...most everyone goes through a depression stage...but HELL, life is short,, LIVE IT WILD...
@jamesd.69793 ай бұрын
Perry Farrell is a very complicated guy. He is smart, he is a visionary, and in his heart I truly believe he has the best intentions. But he's a wild card too. There's emotional issues that come with 4+ decades of excess, I don't know if it's possible to fully work through that and for the rest of Perry's life he will be a work in progress. I think that's where we are at right now after the on-stage blow up. It sounds like Perry's likely relapsed in a significant way and emotional issues have reared their ugly head.

I looked up to Farrell my whole life, being an artist, leader, and originator of lollapoloza. It saddens me to think his caring, loving persona was just a mask for a drunken a hole but it sure appears he couldn’t shake drugs and alcohol. It’s not an easy task even for the well off I guess.
@PunishedBrak3 ай бұрын
The sad duality of Man; neither is a mask, and both versions reflect how he truly feels in his soul. He's a conflicted man, and only he can find the peace he craves; but, with his still ongoing alcohol addiction, it doesn't seem like he wants to set himself free.

@@InsaneStryker777 There are tons. The Smiths, The Police, ..Janes was stoner/drug psychedelic college radio alt rock. And there were plenty of those kinds of bands, too. JA never made drugs cool for the first time, but they did for 90's kids, for sure!

I hate how some fans who thought he was great Yesterday in a couple of days thinks he's a miserable junk and drunk. We should accept the fact that grey zones exist and that he, for the better or worse, can be both, with the hopes that the darker zones can be as minimally hurtful as possibile. Perry can be an incredible writer and performer. We should only hope he gets to feel better.

You can’t explain what it means to merely get “well”. To people who don’t know. They think it’s all hedonism. The hedonism stops the first month and then the rest of your life is using to not be completely sick and to just try to feel normal. It’s a sad state of affairs that nobody if they knew would have ever signed up for.

Though JA was successful they got big at the tail end of the 80's so I think it's a bit of a stretch to say they dominated the decade. I seem to recall Dave Navarro having a much more public profile I guess after he left the band? They were great in their heyday I'm sure they are capable still but at his age you have to prioritize your health and Farrell seems to be living in the past in this regard. Hope he can it together.
