Persepolis - Better known locally as Takht-e Jamshid, was the capital of the ancient Achaemenid Empire of Persia. Cyrus the Great, Darius, and Xerxes, were all involved with the building and development of Persepolis. With immense history and importance, I was excited to have a chance to visit during our trip to Iran. #Iran #IranianFood #Persia #Persepoli
Although most of the Persepolis city is now in ruins, destroyed by a variety of reasons, what remains tells a story and is a reminder of the might of Ancient Persia. What I especially enjoyed were the detailed rock carvings, showing stories of wars and triumph from the cultures and people. Truly a must visit destinations when you are visiting Iran.
Mohamad Restaurant - After visiting Persepolis, we then headed to Mohamad Restaurant, what is an Iranian food restaurant especially popular among truck drivers. It was my kind of place, laid back ambiance, chilled out space, and delicious local food.
Here are the main dishes we ordered:
Gheimeh - split pea stew
Akbar Joojeh - fried chicken, pomegranate sauce
Salad Shirazi - Persian cucumber salad
Kalam Polo - Cabbage rice

Mark, I am a Persian Zoroastrian, same religion of the ancient Persians. It is the first monotheistic religion in the world and the “ sunflowers” ( actually a lotus) are not a symbol of the sun which was sacred in Mithraism, completely separate from the religion of Zoroastrian kings of ancient Persia.

You know, in every culture, I love how they show their living hospitality to their guests . I’m from the Philippines and our hospitality is way beyond but the Iranians take it to another awesome level . I priced how Mr Taster, since Mark is his guest, lovingly offers Mark the first bite of each food before he serves himself, and the most special I saw was spoon feed Mark. That is so touching for me because that gesture in the Philippines shows the love of a mother to her child no matter how old. My mom when she was alive , when I’m sick spoon feeds me and my brother no Matter how old we were. When I saw Mr. Taster spoon fed Bark with his first bite, it made me tear up and missed my dearly beloved mother. That’s one of the highest level of gesture you can show your affection and hospitality to your guest!

Mark, they did not worship fire! Actually they were Zoroastrian which is the first monotheistic religion and worshipped Ahura Mazda meaning lord of wisdom. They respected fire for its warmth and purity.
