these were the last pair of sunglasses my dad bought before he passed away. He was a fan of Steven McQueen. I will definitely treasure these glasses for a long time to come.

Elephantricity dude that's really cool. Let me give you a tip. If you want them to last a long time I'd suggest never folding them. Keep them like regular glasses and in a really padded case always rapped in a micro fiber cloth. Trust me!

I personally love the engineering of them. I genuinely think it makes them a work of art, style and classic engineering. I haven't regretted buying them.

Used to think the same... started w/ 2 pairs of 649 (havana/p brown + resina / grad blue) a few years back, recently purchased 2 of the 714SM (this colorway and the light havana/grad blue). Don't use the folding mechanism - actually tightened the screws so it's hard to bend at the temples and bridge - just think the 714 looks better on me and only wear those now.

The bog standard 714’s fold downwards, the 714SM’s fold inwards. It means no big, bulbous, visible hinge on the arms..

The 714's do fold down, they are also a little heavier and larger. The "Steve McQueen" fold in, are lighter to wear and slightly smaller.
